  • So weekly budget has thirty pounds left which resets on Friday...DH did overtime last week so that hopefully can be used for the iPad rental. I need to have a big purge on Xmas and get things moving. I've got four days left when I'm off work and the kids are at school so need to get a shifty on and collect some things. Sainsbury's sent me a spend 90 get 12 pounds off voucher so that's gonna be Xmas food, toiletries, chocs for relatives and stockings.

You are not a scrooge, that is just taking the mick.  Is the school in a wealthy area or something?  There's no consideration for people struggling.

  • I also feel they are taking the proverbial. Some parents with money a fair few living payday to payday or I would guess quite a few on benefits. Remembrance Day etc is always a yes as it teaches my children and is donated. Swimming is part of curriculum so yes. Disco/breakfast with Santa and the Easter bunny lots of fun so a definite yes. Raffle tickets at three five or ten pounds too me are a no. The hampers are ace I have to declare though. We donate four Fridays running, stocking fillers, toiletries, wine and beers and chocolate/luxury food items so they get a good haul. I've upped my weekly budget to 1.25 per child for each item they donate (was a pound in previous years-inflation got me 😂 😂)

  • I know I'm  being a bit full on but I've never logged on my diary all the school requests. I used to put 20 a month away and it more or less covered it.   Now there older the costs have jumped. Maybe I should declare what we spend on other things -might make me more accountable/guilt us into being debt free quicker .....

That's loads considering you are donating items as well.  I always buy xmas clothes a size up so that they last two years.  There's some xmas jumpers quite cheap on vinted.  I've had a few in my favourites.  People are starting to buy them now though!

A lot of people find declaring their spends helpful.

  • Ooh yes I'm a recent discoverer of vinted. I keep and reuse but as the twins have got older they've become a similar size so they end up needing the same cast off 😂. I should look at book day outfits too shouldn't I ....
