Keeping afloat is a great result with everything you've got going on, well done!

Thankyou. Doesn't feel like I've made any progress but then again if I'm just trying to stay steady  it's all okay isn't it.

  • So very random but if you watch debt free screams they are quite inspiring. The USA people on the show all seem to owe a lot but earn a lot too. I googled minimum wage in the usa to be nosy . It's higher than here but not in every state and it seems living costs are higher. I was trying to work out the equivalent emergency fund. I earn 11.45 an hr which is pants but also above minimum, I'm in the north so it goes further but really when you think about it the elusive 1000 pounds is quite high isn't it for people trying to live off a low wage, and I'm not sure rice and beans is what I need to do with kids in the house. Slow and steady wins the race eh. Anyways I'm rambling. And going debt free the American way is also a bit preacher like. Just random thoughts after being on u tube videos 😄

I think it's always worth finding something that inspires you, even if not everything translates.  It can seem insurmountable on a lower income, but something is always better than nothing, and circumstances might change at some point e.g. childcare reduces etc which means you might be able to add more.

Good news on the bank work.

The difference in wages in different states and the fact that most of the debt free screamers owed hundreds of thousands was quite an eye opener. Our debt will truly never disappear till we stop paying childcare but also it's got a lot easier to cope with each year it's cost reduces.  We are one week Into putting finance together again and I can see how it will open up the conversation and hopefully gets dh on board.
Bank work was booorrring but has covered the cost of panto with maybe a few quid left once it's taxed so all good.

E fund is now 554. Can't see it getting any higher this month and it's almost that expensive thing called Xmas....
I'm just over half way to the 1k amount though. We have a noisy washing machine at the moment so it's nice to know that problem will be covered if and when  the machine finally gives up on itself.
