I don't know about the new Tracker but on mine the prices update at midnight.  I look at the day-ahead electricity prices which are settled by 9 or 10am (never sure on the time zone conversion, but I'm not awake that early anyway) to get an idea of what the next day's prices will be.  It was a lot easier to do that when Guy Lipman's Tracker page was up and running, so I could just use it as a reference table rather than always having to do the calculation.  Now I just use a rough estimate as it's not critically important for us to know the exact price in advance.

The publicly available gas prices on Marex seem to have disappeared, and I don't know if anyone's found an alternative source yet.

I'm tempted. Currently with EON but it looks like Octopus are taking new customers on?

Would it cause complications moving during the £400 energy discount scheme? I'm minded to wait until I've had them all.

Thanks @Spoonie_Turtle, midnight makes more sense... I'll check when I wake up tomorrow.
Hopefully any changes, are a penny or two different (or less), rather than a mahoosive leap in price.

I moved to Octopus from British Gas in October, and got my £66/67 bang on time.

The £67 is paid by whichever company you're with on the 1st of the month. I'd ring Octopus to ask for a switch on the 2nd, should all be sorted well before the next payment is due.

Excuse my basic question, but what are the chances of it hitting a 100p/kwh for electric?

Being as if 100p/kwh product cap was reached, would get reduced by EPG from January 2023 reduction of 31.8p/kWh  chances of paying 100p/kwh for electric is probably Zero (0)
I hope you re right about zero chance but what if the Russions sabotaged the Langeled pipeline from Norway to UK  where we get 40% of our gas supply ? There are over 700 miles of pipeline to try and guard .

They have done this before with Nord Stream 1 in the Baltic.

Last year Cornwall Insights electric projection did hit £1 an hour for electricity .

To answer my own question, about when prices are updated...
My account on the web page has updated kWh prices.
My account on the app, still has yesterday's prices (as of 0930).

The UR cap for your version of Tracker is applied, then the EPG reduction, down to a minimum of the EPG floor - the highest Tracker UR cap so far is 100p/kWh, so the maximum that could be charged, with the current EPG reduction, is 68.2p/kWh.

FWIW, the highest actual UR I noticed last year was circa. 80p/kWh, but who knows what the future might bring...

Nordpool updates its wholesale DA price at 10:00 - Octopus then applies the resulting UR from midnight, but you can easily work out your UR using the DA price and plugging it into the respective Octopus formula for your energy region.

Using today's Nordpool update, my UR tomorrow will be 28.16p/kWh.

This looks a good option at the moment. For those on this tariff how are you monitoring it to check it's still worthwhile? Third party site, or do you get enough info from your Octopus account?
