Apart, from the chance that prices could rise, is there  any other negative. Do you still get the Gov discount credit of £67.00?
For tracker, do you take it for gas and electric. (I'm a former Avro customer)
Sorry for the basic questions. I did try using the search button.
The only risk is that prices could rise and if it does get ridiculously high there's no fee for changing back to the variable tariff. I've just had a good look and SAC2334 is right that prices just now are really good. I've saved already in my first 9 days. I'm a high gas user in this cold 200 year old house so the lower gas price is very welcome.

Yup we asked a few days ago via phone and email. Still no movement. :(
Use Twitter to DM and you'll get a much faster response, usually same or next day.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I asked to switch on Twitter in the middle of last week and got little action, though they said they'd passed it to their Smart Tariff team. Nudged them again on Tuesday and the switch happened almost instantly. I guess it depends on who handles your tweet and if they know what to do.

A big thank you to the posters on this thread. I decided to go with elec/gas tracker. I DM via twitter. A bit over an hour later I was put on. Just got to hope prices remain low.

Hi, quick question. I also just moved onto the tracker tariff thanks to this thread and the updated daily rate for today is now showing. I did query an Octopus representative who said that the ICD won't work on the tracker tariff as the figures change daily. Is that correct? If so, it will be back to the spreadsheet for me again.

I just put in a couple of reads every week so they send a proper bill the following day.I m new to tracker but so far it's been really good..They averaged out my first five days on tracker and billed me at 6.85 p kWh for gas plus vat and 26 p day standing charge
Electric was billed at around 19 p kWh plus vat/ charges .I let them work it out for me.

I don t have smart meters so that is how the rate is calculated for me.

No, with a non-smart meter, they apportion your usage for the bill period (using 'industry data') to 'work out' daily usage, then they apply the actual URs for each of those days to the apportioned daily usage; the average daily UR is then calculated from this, and shown in the 'Your Charges In Detail' part of the bill. There should be a page in your bill listing daily rates/usage?

I have only submitted reads from 1 st Jan to 16 th Jan where there was a part Flexible Octopus for 11 days and 5 days on Tracker . They used actual readings on 1 st  Jan but estimated the Tracker start read as an estimated on 11 th and an end  customer read on the 16 th . They don t appear to have used an estimated daily usage at all in this billing.

My next 2 reads will be all on Tracker to the end of Jan so I will have to see if they bill me according to the start and end on customer readings .

i dont have a billing sheet issued like yours showing each day s use .

I don t want to be billed on past daily usage as I have halved my gas annual usage from 8000 kwh s a year to just 4000 kwh s a year with electric about 30% less use

Hopefully, when your bill is fully Tracker, it will be done correctly?

FWIW, I submit readings on the first of the month, to maintain whole calendar month billing.
