Cazoo added a PX onto my order and I didn’t have one

There is no way Cazoo or any other dealer for that matter would do a px with only a couple of hundred pound differential and they most certainly wont dispatch a vehicle without full payment upfront0

But there are plenty of occasions where dealers accept trade-ins at higher values than the new purchase - it's not that uncommon where personal circumstances have changedRobbo66 said:There is no way Cazoo or any other dealer for that matter would do a px with only a couple of hundred pound differential and they most certainly wont dispatch a vehicle without full payment upfront0 -
And you have proof of this?, i have PXd many cars over the years and never come across and dealer taking in a vehicle at a higher cost that the one they are sell especially in the second hand market. Always happy to be proved wrong with factsWonka_2 said:

If you've always traded in an older car for a newer one then you won't have personal experience of your part ex being more "valuable" than the car you are buying. However given that car dealers will buy a car for stock without selling you another one it's obvious that they will also buy in a part ex that's worth more than the car they're selling if they can turn a potential profit on the whole deal - it happens a fair bit in the prestige "boy's toys" market ie buys a Lamborghini or similar then decides that "driving a super fast tractor with rock hard suspension while peering out through a letter box" is not for them and goes back to something a little more practical.Robbo66 said:

What factual proof are you citing in support of your own assertion? Limited personal experience can hardly be assumed to be representative....Robbo66 said:

Yes - personal experience that 2 of my last 3 transactions have been to lower value vehicles with cash back to me as part of the deal from the retailer. A lot depends on the car and it's value - my 2 were desirable, well-specced premium brands where what I was buying was similar but a smaller version - not specific but assume Audi S5 to Audi S3 for exampleRobbo66 said:

Agree it's unlikely that someone is trading in a Mondeo for a Vectra and getting cash back in the deal - unless they're downtrading for financial reasons0 -
Dealers are desperate for decent stock at the moment. So taking a car of higher value will be something they will be more than happy to do.
Just the same as they are more than happy to bid to buy a car direct from you for cash. Motorway etcLife in the slow lane0 -
I have traded a more expensive car in to buy 2 cheaper cars, Dealer makes money on the PX so it doesnt matter what its value is in relation to the car you are buying0
