So I've just created an account last night and put in my switch details. Got a text this morning saying I'm using an unnaranged overdraft?

How could I be in overdraft when I've only just created this account last night?
Probably because you've been charged the pro-rata monthly fee. I opened an account yesterday and was charged £0.34 fee today.
Has anyone who downgraded their accounts been charged a fee for the period it was active?

I upgraded my Club Lloyds account to Club Lloyds Silver thinking that would suffice to meet the free gift criteria.

What’s the simplest way to set up an external dummy account that I can use to switch into my new Club Lloyds Silver account to meet the gift criteria?
I used Metro Bank for that. Metro Bank does soft search only, card arrived within 2 days and I switched on the same day. Not even bothered activating the card. Reward was paid after I think 5 days. on the day of the completion date I got a text from Lloyds saying switch complete and downgraded the account after.

Thanks for the helpful info. Do I need to cancel the upgrade I have already submitted from Club Lloyds to Silver, and then do the CASS switch from Metro?

Or can I open an account with Metro and switch from Metro into the Silver account I now already possess?

Sorry if this is basic - very new to all of this!
  • Keep the Silver account, open the Metro account.

The switch is initiated from the Lloyds account once you have the details of the Metro account (sort code, account no, debit card number).
  • My Starling card has just arrived so done the Lloyds application just now. Earliest switch date was the 13th which is fine with me.
  • Looking at applying for this account
£200 minus £10 for a month seems like a winner ! Then switch again

One question , does it matter when applying if you choose main account or a second account for use of the lloyds account ?

That would likely be because of the account fee, the silver account is £10 per month, charged at the end of the first day of the month (so usually shows the next day) so they will have applied the account fee pro rata for the time it was held.

My account has had a fee of £2.75 applied.  if you have the lloyds app or online banking yet, click on the transaction and it will tell you what it was for and the date range (mine states 25/1/23 - 01/02/2023).  If you haven't already done so, i would just faster payment a nominal amount into the account to clear the overdrawn balance prior to your switch completing.

My switch has completed today, but the incentive paid earlier this week, so will be looking to downgrade to the fee free account tonight or tomorrow. and likely will have a pro rata fee up to that point of downgrade, however when i opened the account i stuck £10 in it to account for potential fees, plus had £10 in the account i was switching from to move across (which is now also in the account today).

  • Can someone who has downgraded their account from Silver to Classic please confirm or otherwise that the account number/sort code/debit card number remain the same?

I've started a switch and don't want to muck it up by changing the source account details.

    Thanks.

I downgraded yesterday pm and sortcode and the sort code and account number remained the same, don't remember anything advising a new card would be issued.

I’ve had the same Lloyds sort code & account number since 1994 and I’ve variously upgraded from student > classic > silver > premier > platinum > club > silver and now back to club again. I was even told that I can keep using the premier debit card until it expires as at the time it had a few years before expiry.
  • Chanced my arm by switching into a Silver Account having received a bonus last November. No surprise that no bonus was forthcoming, more surprising was a letter explaining exactly why.
