Going away soon and think I will have a go at the owl ornament as shown on the last posted YouTube above.
I'm thinking you could easily make a strip of fabric into the hanging loop (therefore free of charge!)
Think it would look great in owly colours or in bright/Christmas fabrics as a tree ornament. I would sew on a base circle to cover stitches- maybe even a felt circle , then no fraying. I can feel experimentation beckoning!!!
I have a big bag of old blanketing & the like to take away with the express intention of using it all up (hopes, hopes!) to make dog coats for several rescues. Maybe offcuts would make owls? but I think the fabric is too thick.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Hi all, hope you are well. It has been a more than hectic 4.5 months here with the early arrival of my little boy at the end of February! He is now starting to sleep more consistently at night and I have been able to get back to some of my crafting roots.
Not a stash buster but I did spend a small fortune in Hobbycraft on fat quarters when I felt a bit sad and sleep deprived the other day and I am now in the process of making a hexagon hand sewn quilt for him. Similar in design to this -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzUWEEYKXpk&ab_channel=MereaniQ but I'm using circles and folding them to make hexagons rather than EPP. (I saw the technique on tiktok!) It's going... mediocre-ly at present. I've also been watching a lot of the Great British Sewing Bee
This has peaked my interest in sewing and I'm now thinking about getting a sewing machine, OH has sighed and just looked resigned when I mentioned it but I love the idea of making clothes and outfits for my little man. Trouble is, I can't sew to a pattern and have never really tried. Does anyone have any good ideas of places to get advice and guidance from?£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January5 -
@kiss_me_now9 i started off with waves and wild patterns (was called made by jack's mum then). They now have a course, but if you want to dip your toe in before buying the course, their facebook group has free patterns and instructions to download. I use the leggings pattern a lot- the loose fit option is good for PJ bottoms. They also have a vest pattern too. I think the instructions are really clear- have a look and seeMake £2025 in 2025- £751.88/£2025

@Soontobeoap i've used the tiny scraps for stuffing draught excluders instead of poly fill. Could you do something similar with the too small to use bits? The owl from above looks to need stuffing? There's also scrap patchwork- some is just attaching bits to each other to make bigger bits, or doing tiny bits of paper piecing?

I am very chuffed with myself- I've made a door curtain!!!! I will hang it later and take a photo. I am so pleased- I bought fabric 8 years ago to make curtains with and wimped out. My mum made them in the end! This time it wasn't anywhere near as daunting, even though it's actually a lot more fabric and a thick bit of blackout lining in the middle too. My confidence has grown with my skills 😁 I reused the back lining and the blackout inner from the old curtain, and i've used the entire piece of fabric I bought on tuesday. Winner!
I've also finished another cushion- just one more to go.
I'm now at 72/200- slowly but surely reaching the target! We won't think about how much stuff there still is to use up 🙃Make £2025 in 2025- £751.88/£2025
