Tax is a nightmare! Well done about the pay day, even better you didn't expect it! It is hard to sell stuff you really want to keep but can't really qualify why.craftingmad said:Morning all,
My willpower is sadly lacking at the moment but I did get a mice surprise when I logged onto my bank today as I had forgotten it is payday for two of my jobs
That means I have added £585.89 from those into the savings account today along with £70 from a FB Marketplace sale of some crafting supplies and tools I had never used and managed to tell myself it was time to let go
So my total now currently stands at £3453.37/£37552 = 9.18%
Fingers crossed I might hit the 10% mark soon - there is something about being in double figures which makes it feel like you have so much more

May 25 : £14000 Sept 25 - £10635

Yay for 70% - you are doing so well and are nearly there so you absolutely deserve that bottle of wine. I know how you feel though - I even stop and think about spending £2 on things so I suppose that means this challenge is workingHighlanddream said:70% for me today, woo hoo. Paid off a card that has taken forever to clear. Only a card and one loan left. It will be slow going until Feb now but wanted to to be under 10000 before Xmas
I bought a bottle of wine to celebrate, first one for ages as I figure that's another £10 to my debts lol.
I feel like I am wading through treacle at the moment. I seem to be doing everything I can to make some money but the amounts just don't seem to be getting any higher :Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.021 -
I can finally declare some more money has been added into our savings retirement fund and thanks to hubbies overtime it is quite a big chunk
£4000.00 from OH OT and lack of spending on behalf
£ 163.61 interest from savings account
£ 146.29 interest from savings account
________
£4309.90 added into account today
So my total now currently stands at £7763.27/£37552 = 20.64%
I finally feel like we may be making some progress - although it really does feel like hard work now

Yes I suppose it does mean the challenge is working, I hadn't thought about it like that.
I will feel the same for the next few months - treacle, with all my main bills coming up, I am cash flowing them but it is so annoying.
I am saving every penny, hoping I can pay the card off by the end of Feb, it only has £1650 on it, too scared to pay it off before just in case the car costs an absolute fortune.

Hi all yes I am okay. Thanks for checking on me. We are haemorrhaging money but all in a good cause -I would rather not be spending so much but in for a penny in for a pound. We still have the iPad fund but we have new debts that will be the source of a new target - until the last bits of work are finished I can't work it out. But my signature is probably out by about 2k 😂 I'll do a proper update after!Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Signature updated. It's a guesstimate by month end but is about right. Will keep iPad fund as a separate challenge on principle but now also have more debts to service.
iPad savings challenge is in my chase account and I'll leave it there to collect round ups etc.
Debts will only pay minimum for now.
iPad 1% is still ten pounds. I'm at 21% saved
Debts 1% is 71.50. ( I'll start counting when it's rounded down to a 1% of 70 😂)Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

£70 or 71.50
isn't too bad a 1%. Just gutting its gone up. Glad the ipad fund is separate, you have made a good start on that.
Mine is going to stay the same until next March now, well like you, minimum payments so won't even hit 1% extra a month.Sept 24 : £32000 Aug catch up - £11436

Thanks. I was just gutted if almost broke the 5k barrier. But then the kids have all had glasses within the last month, we've had lots of outstanding house repairs done and a few other boring adult/ house things to pay for so at least there's a reason.Highlanddream said:£70 or 71.50
