I've just been reading about it in the local paper online . Will wait to hear your version am sure it will be more correct than the paper. Am sure you enjoyed your trip out and had a good time no matter what.

I went and had an afternoon tea yesterday in a hotel in big city near me. My friend got a wowch.. deal. To be honest it was a bit mediocre and I wouldn’t rush back there. We progressed to the theatre….picked up our pre paid for bottle of bubbly and settled in our seats. The first 20 minutes was brilliant…..lively, beautiful singing, costumes and laughs. The scene was set to change from the market square to the interior of Prof Higgins house….the scenery was beginning to come into view. It suddenly went quiet and the curtain came  down. There was an announcement to stay  seated and that the show would continue ASAP. For a split second I thought the worse…I thought it might be some sort of attack happening. However a member of staff came on stage fairly quickly and said there was a technical glitch. PHEW !!!!
We were still asked to stay in our seats and normal services would resume ASAP…..folk were beginning to get a bit agitated. Another 10 minutes or so and the orchestral conductor comes on stage…..You’ve guessed…….We are very sorry but it looks as if the show can’t continue as there is a technical glitch…..please feel free to move around to the bar, loos etc and we’ll update ASAP. What seemed like an age later he returns and says for those who want to stay they are trying to get something together and the orchestra will play but they might need 10 minute breaks between movements.
Eventually the curtain rose again and the cast were all sitting in a horseshoe shape with a few seats in a row in front with the main characters. The conductor again stated they’d continue with as best they could with the music and do what they could to save us having a wasted afternoon.
Soooooo……the cast said their pieces and sung the songs on a bit of stage in front of the chairs. And did as much dancing as they could in such a small area.
It was quite amusing at parts as there was a fair bit of ad-libbing and nudging people when to come in - I suppose it threw the cast as nobody was where they were suppose to be.
They had another 10 minute break and all removed their chairs. Some pieces of scenery were pushed on by stage hands and they performed I’m getting married in the morning- I’m presuming as it should have been performed but without the background scenery. Then the chairs came back whilst they did the last scenes.
Lesley Garrett was one of the stars but she didn’t sing a solo which was disappointing and Ian Beale was Eliza’s dad. He was good at the Cockney accent but it was pretty obvious he wasn’t a singer as there were some lovely voices. Eliza Doolittle was amazing and coped with the changes admirably. She had several costume changes but the rest of the cast didn’t change clothes. It would be interesting to see the show again and compare the differences.
At no point was a refund mentioned. Several folk were harassing staff and the couple next to us were having what they thought was a quiet ‘domestic’ whether they should stay or go. The man got up and flaunted off. He came back later stating he’d demanded to see the manager who had said  ‘Get in touch with the ticket providers and he would notify them the show had to be stopped’ Later on our way home we’d nipped for a coffee and tried do just that and were greeted with a notice saying no refunds. I had another look at the website later and found a place to complain. I need the tickets back from my friend and am going to try to get a refund….I’d be happy with a credit note as we go fairly regularly to that theatre.
So that was my memory of My Fair Lady 😱😂😂 We still had an enjoyable, if not what we expected afternoon. I do feel we should get some sort of compensation as it wasn’t what we signed up for.

Wow, what a crazy day! They clearly tried, but you should definitely get a refund as it’s not what was promised at all. It will be a memorable day though🤭 Did you feel ok for the day? I know you were resting up for it.

I did feel ok thanks Winter Warrior. I was tired but it could have been the bubbly. We got a taxi home from the train station as I’d had enough. I literally didn’t sleep more than half an hour last night as the songs had progressed to ear worms 😂😂 That’ll teach me to brag that I’ve been sleeping well of late.
Not done much today other than check in at SW where I’d put 1 lb on - which isn’t bad after a holiday, afternoon tea and bubbly. I don’t often drink more than a glass of wine. 😉
Im determined to get back below my 1/2 stone again next week.

What a palaver with the show but at least they tried to provide some sort of entertainment. One you won’t forget in a hurry. 1lb on is good considering all that.

An unplanned spendy day for my first day of April. We went to an ethnic shop towards the big city. They do the most amazing big flat Turkish loaves of bread and we haven’t been there for years. Anyway the bread was as scrumptious as I remembered and we bought jars of peppers, preserved lemons, and a few other bits and pieces for £10.10 - would have been considerably more in the supermarket. We then popped to Icel@nd, unfortunately not the country and bought a few more bits I needed and some things for the freezer. So £35 altogether. Just had their hot x buns for breakfast and they were gorgeous- lots of spice and fruit.
Other than that we had a lazy day again….I’m still shattered after my half bottle of bubbles and trip out on Thursday. We’ve  started watching The Blue Line on I playerand are  really enjoying it.
Ds is coming around today and we’re going out somewhere he has some Mr T restaurant vouchers to use but I’m not sure if they’re an Italian restaurant chain or the ravenous horse chain we’re going to. I’m not complaining as it’s free food wherever we go. I’ll choose carefully as I really want to get under the next stone bracket at SW next week.

I love food shopping, so that sounds a great day to me 😁
Enjoy your free meal, it will taste even better for that! I’m also teetering just over a stone bracket…and have been for weeks. It so hard 😕
