  • You've made me want to get back to the swimming pool milann! My issue is that my old "regular" time for going is the same time that I now tend to go to the gym but not in the same location, and there aren't too many other suitable times for me to go that are quiet enough to suit me. (I can't be doing with splashiness!)  If they get the lido refurb sorted and get it open again for this season then hopefully I might get there a few times.

We had a great time in York. There was a light show illuminating the Minster on Thursday evening. It was something very special.
I suspect the 2 1/2 lb I took off has promptly returned with a friend or two 😏 as I now have a new favourite shop. We walked into town from the pub we were staying at and passed an artisan cheesecake shop. It was so good we visited again the following day. I can honestly say it was THE BEST cake I’ve ever eaten. It wasn’t cheap but was worth every penny. Pity I can’t say that at Pat.Valerie shop. I love Black Forest gateaux from there as there aren’t many of that chain of shops around these days, we had a treat and rest. The cream had a skin on it….obviously old stock. Dh and ordered a scone which we had to remind them about and it arrived 15 minutes after the drinks and my cake…..I won’t be returning there ever again. Such a shame as it was an old favourite.
The pub was a couple of miles out of town but the buses ran very 10 minutes or so or you could walk in along the road or river which had a lovely fairy trail on part of it. Somebody had put a lot of work into it. The landlord of where we stayed was lovely and very obliging- his only ask for staying on his car park was had a drink or so when we arrived home in the evening.
We mainly pottered around town, had a river walk and  people watched as we sat in various pubs and cafes. Ds met us yesterday and we visited the train museum - a lot of what I remembered was shut as they’re doing a big revamp and modernisation which will take a couple of years. Twas rather nice to see the big old trains non the less…..there’s definitely something majestic about them. It must have been great to see them thundering through he countryside. Although I suspect the reality wasn’t a romantic image…..more noisy, smelly and sooty 😉
Right I’m off to empty the van and get some washing in.

  • That sounds such a lovely trip ♥️ I really love York and I always loved the royal train carriages at the railway museum.

WW we were talking about the Royal Trains as they weren’t on show yesterday. A big section was shut but the plans after the re vamp looked pretty good. Can’t complain about half being closed as it’d free entry and there was still plenty to see.
