  • Ahh Edinburgh is fabulous, that will be a great trip!  We take any excuse to slot in a trip up there!

Hope the visit to the GKs was lovely, and the cake was appreciated!

We have only ever had one very quick day trip to Edinburgh. We did very much enjoy it though.

Might have to find somewhere to spend a couple of nights next time we are up that way.

Had a lovely day yesterday with dd and gks. We had a walk around a little tourist spot in the neighbouring county to us, visited the farm shop of a big stately home and went back to the air bnb and played games with the gks. The bnb was lovely right by a river and it had  a hot tub right on the banks. The cottage was a 300 year old stone building with an intriguing stone staircase. Bet that building could tell some tales. Gks loved the bargainous tops I’d bought them 😁
Back to reality this morning though and a hospital appointment for a hip injection. I walked there through my favourite place to walk  and had to get a taxi back as no driving allowed today. It wasn’t as bad as my ankle one. It is at the local private hospital as an NHS patient. I’ve seen the same consultant every time I’ve been. It really does make a difference seeing the same doc as you build a relationship with them. Got to rest today. I haven’t even got Dh a valentines card yet. We’re heading out for a cheap and cheerful meal later so I won’t have to stand whilst cooking 😁👍

  • The cottage sounds wonderful and you can’t beat a farm shop in my humble opinion 😁
I hope the injection works wonders.

WW I hope it works too. They’re usually ok for a few months. He takes great pleasure in reminding me it’ll be a hip replacement when they stop working…..he’s a great doc and we have good banter 👍
Trouble is I’ve been sitting here s a king all afternoon- I’m hopeless when I’m not doing something 😳

  • Just been reading through all your lovely trips and days out!😀. Edinburgh is a smashing city. I've been there twice on weekend always and always had a great time. Holyrood Palace is beautiful! You and hubby will love it!
Another here with fingers crossed for your injection. 🤞
Glad you had a lovely time with your family the other day.

I love Edinburgh SSG - first time we’ve taken Millie. The most memorable was when I thought I’d booked a hotel on The Royal Mile - a posh one 😂😂😂 I’d surprised Dh with Elton John tickets and posh hotel stay. A couple of days before I’d realised I’d not had much from the hotel so checked and phoned. I hadn’t confirmed the reservation….I’d hastily cast my eyes over the email when I’d booked months earlier and though it was my confirmation not that I had to confirm 😳😂😂😳 I can laugh now but was panic stricken. Anyway hotel fit us in at £150 extra EACH (£50 a night) 😳😳😳😳….all went on the cc of course. I put it behind me though and we had a fantastic time - Elton was amazing. This time we’re staying slightly outside the town but we’ve stayed in n air bnb not far from there. Buses run into town regularly 👍 Unfortunately there won’t be an Elton concert to go to this time.
Just spoken to my friend. Her hubby must have found amazing strength from somewhere as he is still extremely poorly but fighting on. 3 weeks ago they didn’t expect him to last 3 days. It could be any time. I don’t know if I feel more sad for him or for his wife and family 😥

  • Shame there'll be no Elton concert this time round!
I'm so sorry about your friend's husband.  So sad. 😞

  • We've stayed at this campsite a couple of times: https://www.meadowhead.co.uk/parks/mortonhall/ Easy access in on the bus. Stayed there in the tent once, and used a wigwam the second time - thank goodness when we woke up on the second morning to snow!  It's a bit more "holiday park" than the places we usually choose, but it has an excellent pub on site which was a bonus!

Hope the hip is feeling OK today!
