We used to go to York for the weekend quite often also Stratford on Avon. Not that they’re near each other they’re just great places to go for the weekend 😆

Sounds like you had a lovely time.

Love York. We have rebooked for next year again.

Which pub did you stay at. The Bay Horse?

Glad that you had a great time.
I went to York a few years ago & liked it.
The train museum was good & we saw the Flying Scotsman & the Royal Train!

RS we stayed at The Hogs Head a couple of miles out of York. No food but could have a take away delivered from around the corner.
Beanie, York is one of my favourite places. How long would it take you to get there….a good few hours I’m guessing. It’s less than 2 hours from here.
SA I’ve only been to Stratford on Avon for an hour en route to dds. Might need to sort that out 👍

Need to do some serious number crunching today. I took my eye off the ball after Christmas and haven’t got back yet. That said I don’t think I’ve gone too mad as I find the good habits I’ve acquired in recent years comes 2nd nature now….😂😂😂hope I’ve not jinxed the figures now 😂😂😂

Number crunching has been done….so have I 😡 realised the pub I treated myself dh and ds to on Saturday has taken its money twice. 2 lots of £44.45 have gone out…..I phoned the pub and they’ve asked me to send details and it will be refunded as it’s a genuine mistake. Being a technophobe I could do with out the hassle but £44 is better in my account than there’s. (apologies if I’ve posted on somebody else’s thread as I though I’d already written this somewhere  😏)
I have no energy again today….think I burnt myself out at weekend….I sat and chilled yesterday and today will be pretty much the same.
Im using the freezer this week as I want a trip to top up at c@stco toward the end of the week.

Dh did the tech stuff and sent the copy of the bank stuff to the pub. Hopefully I’ll get a refund soon.
I've been so tired again today…a quick trip around the corner to Morrison’s- I only wanted a couple of bits. Most of the salad and veg were empty and they didn’t have the cholesterol lowering drinks I wanted so I went across to Ald! - got everything there 👍
I’m getting the tram to see my brother tomorrow, I haven’t seen him since before Christmas.

  • Well done for spotting the pub mistake and good for them for acknowledging it and sorting it out - this is why we check bank statements isn't it!

We've been to the railway museum in York a few times - always a good place to visit! As for the Valerie cake people, I've not rated them for quite a few years now since the one in Cambridge tried to tell me that yes, of course the cream tea I'd ordered came with marmalade rather than jam - "it's traditional" - this while I was sitting opposite native Devonian MrEH who is no stranger to a proper cream tea!  (Yes, of course they'd run out of jam and not had the wit to just send someone to the supermarket for a couple of fresh jars!)

I visited my brother yesterday and went for a knit and natter with my lovely sister in law. It was good and I ended up trying to teach a couple of ladies to crochet. My sil  is quite busy organising something most afternoons in the room provided by the sheltered housing where she lives. Much better than sitting about doing nothing.
I contemplated getting off the  tram in the big city I pass through but it was so cold I couldn’t be bothered standing waiting for the tram back in the cold so I stayed put in the warm and went straight home.
I was in bed and asleep by 9 again and I don’t remember waking up in the night….my few days away have really taken it out of me. Think I need to look to pacing myself more when we go to Scotland for 2 weeks.
Somebody I was talking to the other day was saying a relative had passed away on Christmas Day and her hubby decided to have one of the funerals with no service or chance for family and friends to say goodbye. This lady was still distraught that she never got chance to say bye to her sister and felt her sister would have told her if that’s what she wanted. So if anybody is thinking of the money saving funeral where the undertaker does everything and tells whoever arranged it when it’s all over, make sure your nearest and dearest know about it. It was so sad to listen to and I can’t get it out of my head for some reason.
Today will be a tidy up, put washing away  and a bit of catch up tv and crochet. Tea will be something from the freezer. Hopefully I’ll be fully energised again tomorrow after my days away.

I had a tidy up. My plan is to do this every Wednesday and should the weather be nice and the urge take us - I can head off in Millie on a Thursday with knowing the house is in order 👍😁 We won’t be heading anywhere this week though - I need a couple of weeks at home to recover 😂😂
I did spend today as I sent some flowers to somebody I know who had a hip replacement last week.
I had an email from the pub saying they’ll sort the overpayment tomorrow and they sent apologies. Can’t ask for more than that. I’m just pleased I happened to check my bank statement as I usually only do it once a month….proves I need to be more vigilant. 👍
