Well yesterday didn’t turn out quite as planned. Before I headed out I’d put some stewing steak in the slow cooker with a can of beer, I’d peeled potatoes ready for mash and only needed to buy some spring cabbage and voila a lovely tea would be ready later 👍😀
I headed to the big car park at my tram station….not a parking place anywhere. I drove around a couple of times but there was no sign of anyone returning to their car. So I drove to the big shopping mall. I don’t do motorways so go the longer way. I parked very easily and went into the shops. 😀
First shop was JLewis where I bought a couple of tops for the GKs….bargain at £3.50 each 😀😀 I decided to drop them back at the car rather than carrying them all day. As I got to my car I noticed my passenger front tyre was as flat as a pancake 😱😏 I’ve never changed a tyre in my life and even if I knew how, I physically couldn’t do it. Anyway I decided there wasn’t much I could do about it there and then so went back into the shops. I had a bit of a mooch around and got what I wanted for ds, as well as shampoo and a nice bubble bath. I had a bit of lunch in the cheaper food area rather than in one of the restaurants and returned to the problem of my flat tyre. There was no point phoning Dh as he was working a distance away. So I decided to put the breakdown cover to the test. I’ve paid for it for years but never had need to use it. I was in the car that Dh usually uses so had to empty all his junk from the boot to get to said tyre. I phoned and actually spoke to a lovely man…..all details were exchanged and he said there would be a local garage coming to me shortly. I sat down in the car getting ready for a wait. Picked my phone up to see if the text with the garage name had arrived…..looked up and the breakdown truck was there before the text had arrived 😀😀😀 2 lovely fellas sorted my car and I waited less than 2 minutes for their arrival 👏👏👏👏 I was so lucky- they said they were at the roundabout when the call went out. I thought they meant the big one by the motorway and entrance to the mall. When I looked at the texts and mapping the breakdown company sent me I realised they meant the roundabout in the actual carpark which I could see from where I was. Text sent out less than 2 minutes before the expected arrival time 😀😀😀👍👍👍 How’s that for good luck 🍀🍀
Anyway I drove home with no problem and Dh is dropping the tyre off today at the tyre place across from where he works.
I’d expected a lovely aroma of steak when I got in but there was only the slightest whiff. I checked it and it was like old boot leather. I’d left it on slow as I used to with my old slow cooker but I should have left it on medium in this newer one. Anyway by 7 pm it still wasn’t cooked so we headed to Spoons 😏 I hadn’t planned it and could easily have defrosted something else but I didn’t. I turned the steak off at 11pm last night and it is still slightly chewy….not melt in the mouth as usual. Id put it on at 9.30 am 😯 So stewed steak, mash and cabbage for tea tonight 👍
Today will be a tidy up and I’ve got to nip out at midday for an appointment- other than that no spends planned. I clocked up £60 yesterday including tea at spoons.January spends - £587.580 -
I’ve been chasing the refund for the coat I sent back. Last correspondence said they hadn’t received it so I’ve sent them the tracking info……watch this space…..January spends - £587.580

Well done on the easy tyre change, that was excellent. Spoons sounds like a good end to your day 😋Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I didn’t know that SSG……good to know. They did send a car over to see what was going on whilst the breakdown truck was parked - just to check all was ok.
The coat was returned with Royal Mail with the returns label printed from the company….
customer services have replied to all my texts so hopefully will be sorted out ok. 🤞January spends - £587.580 -

Had an email to say my money for the coat has been refunded although I haven’t checked my statement yet 😀
I wondered if you’d nip in JL SSG. Glad you got some bargains.
I ended up spending £25 today. Not planned but I needed everything. I walked to where I was going at dinner time as I was very conscious I had no spare tyre in the car. I had lunch out at a little cafe that makes its own salt beef that I’ve had my eye on for a while. It came with a plate of assorted salad and was delicious and not a lettuce leaf in sight….ok I suppose I didn’t need to buy lunch out but I needed the other things…..in my defence m’lord ive not spent much at all this month 😉 I walked back through my favourite place. The lake was mainly frozen the other day when I went but it had defrosted completely and the ducks looked very happy. I was shattered when I got home and am hobbling around 😏. I was very pleased tea was sorted. The slow cooked steak was passable but not as melt in your mouth as usual. We had stir fried cabbage and mash…..delicious. They’ll be at least 4 portions of beef for the freezer too 😀
We’ve just been discussing trips in Millie Motorhome- think we’re heading to Scotland in June. We’ve already booked Dorset, Cornwall and Tenby for March, April and May plus we’re going to a train show in Wales in May so will stay there too. I’m really looking forward to it 😀January spends - £587.582 -
We loved Scotland in the van. Amazing country to tour.

We want to stay near Edinburgh and I want to visit a friend one afternoon and we want to see the Kelpies at nighttime. Then we want to head higher up - not exactly sure where yet. I’d love to spend a couple of nights on Sky - a lady I used to work with has opened a B&B there and we always said we’d visit for a couple of nights….and she is an amazing cook. We might not get there but are going to look into it 😀January spends - £587.580

Skye was beautiful as well. We stayed in a seafront car park at Broadford and Staffin Harbour. Bit tight getting down there but worth the effort. We took the ferry over and the bridge back.
