Thanks for all the replies. Yes Bank of Dave is worth a watch.
We ventured out yesterday…..I was unsure as my Ave is still like an icing rink. It doesn’t get much sun in the pan of the Ave but the pan handle had more or less defrosted so we decided we needed somewhere that wasn’t in the shade of bulidings so the sun would have melted any snow or ice. We headed back to the place we’d been to on the New Year Bank Holiday…..it didn’t look as if they’d had any snow at all and it was a beautifully sun shiny afternoon. This gave Dh a chance to try his new toy with which he is very pleased, whilst I mooched around the little independent shops. I only had chance to do one side of the street before he had finished. On our way back to the car I found a Seasalt shop. I resisted a visit but will definitely go back come summer when I’ve lost a few more pounds. There wasn’t as many independent shops as I remembered but were a lot of charity shops and I did go in quite a few. Some I entered and walked straight out again as they smelt like charity shops used to. I couldn’t buy anything from a smelly shop 🤢 Anyway 1 shop was lovely- a local hospice fund raising shop. It wasn’t smelly or cramped. I found a lovely grey cardigan with a cabled yoke it still had its original labels on so hadn’t been worn……£5 so I bought it 😀 When I tried it on it was a tad tight but I’ll hang onto it 👍 Had I been in line for a posh evening frock….this would have been the shop, there were some beauties for £40ish. I started chatting to the shop assistant and we decided some of them could tell a tale or two 😉
From there we went to our favourite cafe in that neck of the woods and it didn’t disappoint. I had a small fish and chips for £4.20…..the chef cooked a full size fish by mistake 😂😂 I wasn’t complaining 👍 I only ate a corner of the batter so the chips only took me slightly over my SW target and the fish and peas were classed as free food. That’s why I like SW it fits in with my life 😀 Like everything else though the mindset has to be in the right place. Fingers crossed I’ve cracked it this time 🤞😉
On our way home I nipped into Ald to get a few bits. Dh was with me so £35 later….taking me spend for yesterday to £40.January spends - £587.582 -
Not much happening here in milann land. Went to see ds at weekend with a short walk near his house…..we were still thick in ice here and he’s only about 5 miles away and there wasn’t any to be seen. Yesterday I went for a walk to my favourite lockdown walk as our ice finally vanished. I called in Aldi for some veg and bread £4 spent. It’s ds birthday at weekend so I’m off on the tram to the big shopping mall and will see if I can find a little something for him to open….no point going to my local town as there isn’t a lot of shops left there. £3.50 will be spent on return tram ticket. Birthday treat for him is from last years stashed away cash 😀👍January spends - £587.580

Ooh I know what you mean about smelly charity shops. They all used to be like that years ago, but most are ok now, jut the odd few that are like it now. I think its the smaller ones where everything is crammed together that are the worst. Love a good rummage in a charity shop, my favourite buys are normally jigsaw puzzles & books, I seem to struggle to find any clothes in the local ones. But normally find some if we travel further afield, especially in the "posh" towns....lolMaking the debt go down and savings go up
