Morning all, happy New Year's Eve. That's another year almost done.
WFH again today which was always the plan. I will be 1 day short of the 60% office attendance for December but it can't be helped as I didn't know I was going to feel unwell at the end of the month. I did toy with the idea of going in for a couple of hours today just to put the tick in the box but I still feel like I'm brewing a cold.
Payday today and the money shuffle has been done. I sent £150 to the new Christmas Saver to start it off, my bank wasn't recognising the new account yesterday but today it does. Money for the other regular savers has been put to one side to send on Friday. Savings pots for vet/glasses/tech replacement/birthdays/annual bills/appliances have all been topped up. An oddment of £1.04 has gone to the Christmas 2026 pot. CC balance paid off, just today's Mr M shop pending left.
I did a short 15 minutes yoga/affirmations session this morning.
Mr M delivery arrived at 6am so that's all packed away. Had a bit of a battle squeezing a couple of things into the freezer.
I need to venture out later to take the dog on the park but the fresh air will do me good. It's absolutely freezing outside and it's very frosty.
Tonight's dinner is pizza and Prosecco as a celebratory nod towards it being NYE. There's no way I'll still be awake to see the new year in though, I was up at 4.30, I'll be lucky if I make it to 9pm 😆

Well today has got to have been the longest and most boring working day ever! I had one request to deal with around lunchtime then nothing until 3.30 when someone sent through a request labelled urgent response required - at 3.30 on NYE!! It was nothing I could assist with so logged off at 4pm. This is why I don’t usually work in between Christmas and New Year, there’s only so much clearing inboxes and folders you can do before you lose the plot. Anyway I’ve covered now and won’t be doing it again 😐 In fact if I decide to go on the day I can get my hands on my pension and I have enough leave left I could well be finished this time next year. I need to decide by around September what I want to do as I have to give 4 months notice.
Whatever seemed to be brewing still hasn’t happened properly so hopefully this means I’ve dodged the full blown lurgy.I did a short Zumba session on YT after work then had a lovely soak in the bath.I’m hoping for 2026 to be an uneventful year please 🤞🙏
On the WW app we are encouraged to choose a word for the year (they are very focused on mindset) so I’ve chosen the word sparkle. I want to get my sparkle back.I keep thinking it’s Friday today for some reason.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10 -
A very Happy New Year and hopefully a healthy and prosperous one to you, Mr SA and your family.2

Agree totally on deciding on a retirement day, I did this before I retired. I was dithering then decided on a date at the beginning of the following June and notified my boss and HR. I knew at a push I could withdraw my notice but once it was made it made it easier to go ahead with that date. I gave 6 months notice so by time June came I was so ready for it.
Glad you haven’t got any worse health wise and hope it continues, especially as it’s going to get even colder.
Happy new year and let’s hope 2026 is a good one for everyone.:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.002
