That is so exciting about the mortgage! Are you feeling excited?

Get vitamin C and zinc tablets (or fizzy drinkable form if you prefer) from most supermarkets or high street chemists, zinc is the only thing scientifically proven to prevent or lessen a cold

You should have bought the lurex crop top for your end of mortgage party 🥳
it will be such a great but strange feeling when the final payment is made.  I never thought it would be as liberating as it is.

Well done on almost paying your mortgage. It is a good feeling to not have that payment every month. Dont forget to cancel the dd.

The lurex top sounds a fine addition to your wardrobe. :D:D

    Morning all

Still feeling rough so WFH today. There's no way my wobbly aching legs will carry me far today and I don't think colleagues would appreciate me sitting there spreading germs.  That's the downside of being able to WFH I guess, no being off sick unless you can't physically scrape yourself out of bed.

The veg box arrived at 5.30 complete with the biggest cauliflower I've ever seen in my life! I predict a gunpowder spiced cauliflower curry on the horizon 😆

I'll see how I feel later about going with Mr SA to take the dog on the park. I'd like to go to the local shops to pick up some vitamin C and zinc (thank you @PennysIntoPounds). I should be able to send Mr SA on this errand but goodness knows what he'd come back with - another lurex crop top probably!

I'm going to defrost a portion of veggie paella from freezer stocks for tonight's dinner.

On the mortgage front, we could've paid it off a few years ago but opted to have a new kitchen, bathroom, boiler and central heating done instead. Overpaying it has made a big difference to the end date as it was set to run until 1 April 2027 and instead will finish 1 January 2026. As well as cancelling the direct debit I need to cancel the insurance policy I took out so it would be paid off if anything happened to me.

I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Hope the vitamin C & zinc works & you feel better soon.
So exciting about the mortgage. I found it was a bit of an anticlimax with ours though, once it actually happened.

Amazing to think you have just one payment to go. I would absolutely be celebrating.

I think getting those big jobs done would have been worth the extra few years while you were working. Otherwise it would be harder once you have retired.

Hope you're feeling better soon x

Are you sure you're not just having an adverse reaction to the suggestion you wear the lurex crop top 😁
Hope the zinc helps, and take things as easy as you can, easier said than done I know

Will you keep putting the mortgage equivalent money into a 'mine all mine' retirement pot so you've got a wee sum to treat yourself when income is less?
