Brilliantly well done! I feel as if I must have several years of French still to go... the daily practice is a good idea. Perhaps you could find some Spanish reading to widen your skills, or are you going to start another course?Sun_Addict said:
It looks like I've finally come to the end of my Spanish course and am just getting daily practice sessions. I've also been given 3 days free access to Duolingo Max so am practicing my Spanish conversations which is interesting.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Your Saturday sounded nice, except for getting drenched...
You did well on your free electricity hours. You reminded me I could have done the ironing...next time
There is a free hour today at 11but I expect you know that. Have a good sundayIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Went to visit my DS who lives in a city not far from me, which is a top tourist area. We walked into the main area of shops and cafes for lunch. Oh my goodness the streets were so full of rubbish and weeds. I felt like going and getting my litter picker and tidying it all up. I don’t know how people live like that. If everybody just did outside their houses it would make a huge difference. I do litter pick around by where I live, it’s not much thank goodness.:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.004

I’m going to practice my conversational Spanish by listening to podcasts as that’s what would benefit me most. I have the coffee break Spanish podcast to listen to. A few years ago a colleague at work who was an ex Spanish teacher ran lunchtime classes and told me I spoke Spanish with a French accent 🤣 I think I’ve finally conquered that now.Cherryfudge said:

It was Friday I got soaked. Thankfully on the way home as there’s nothing worse than sitting in wet clothes all day at work.doingitanyway said:Your Saturday sounded nice, except for getting drenched...

I can’t understand why people don’t clear weeds/litter from outside their houses. Together we can make a difference but we all have to do it.amber03 said:Went to visit my DS who lives in a city not far from me, which is a top tourist area. I tried to remove the grass which has grown over the pavement outside our hour but found I was pulling the tarmac up as well so had to stop. My pet aversion is hedges and shrubs which take over part of the pavement making it narrower than it should be. Often this means I end up wet down one side when on the scooter. So thoughtless.5

That’s another weekend done 😭
Thankfully only a 4 day working week as Friday I’m out with friends.Took the dog on the park this morning then had to go to the local shops for milk. Stopped off at the charity shop and bought a cat carrier for £5 that will be so much easier for me when I take the cats to the vets. It’s one of those that looks like a hold-all. It even has straps so you can put it on your back 😆
Also finally bought some new wellies online as mine leak and I need them for the park.
Today’s exercise has been dog walking, walking to/from the shops, yoga and the daily dance session.Took advantage of the free electricity hour and charged a few things up again, did a load of washing and made a batch of sweet potato soup for work lunches.Got a load of washing dry outside which is always a bonus this time of year. The dog and cats have had their flea treatment administered. It’s only the young cat who’s a nightmare to catch, the dog and older cat are fine with it.Tonight’s dinner was spiced butternut squash stew with herb dumplings made from yoghurt and flour.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
Apparently I used to speak Italian with a German accent (lots of Germans in my class!). But anything is better than being identified as English and having people speak English back you when you're trying hard to speak their language!Sun_Addict said:

Happy Monday!
I was not a happy bunny when the alarm went off at 4.30am, certainly not ready to go back to work after the weekend.
Worked in the office until lunchtime then came home to finish up. Stopped off at Lid! on the way home and have now hit the qualifying spend for the free veg item, seems quite early in the month for me to have got to a £50 spend. Mr SA has got his free muffin from the last voucher so he's happy with that. I'm going to try and leave the veg coupon until closer to the day it runs out as I plan to get a sack of potatoes and there are still a good few to use up from the last free bag.
The usual Monday finance check has been done and cc has been cleared. This is the final week of the 4 week budget period and there should be a decent underspend overall. However the grocery budget is a bit touch and go as I've stocked up quite a bit recently. Having said that I do have a £40 stock up pot which is intended for such purposes.
Today's exercise has been walking to/from work and it's strength training tonight. Plus the daily dance challenge.
Tonight's dinner is an old favourite smoked basa with cauliflower, leek and lentil rice - mainly because I have cauliflower and leek to use up plus I bought a pack of the bargain skinless, boneless smoked basa from Lid!
This week will be quite a spendy one, although all planned and accounted for. I need a pair of black trainers for walking to work, I've seen some on Am@zon but waiting to see if the price goes down during the Prime Deal Days before I order. We need pond fish winter food and I need some more Yubi bars but no point ordering until tomorrow/Wednesday just in case.
Wednesday afternoon I have the hairdressers and Thursday I'm having my nails done. Then Friday I'm out for the day with friends.
I haven't told Mr SA about meeting my friends on Friday as he'll kick off about me finding time to go out with them when he still needs an outfit for DS's wedding. I'm going to tell him when he starts the usual hassle calls about what time I'm finishing on Friday. He knows I finish early and the calls start around 8am about what time am I coming home. I tell him I'll phone him when I'm on my way back and that I like to have a potter around town first. I find this quite stressful as it makes me feel I've got to rush.
Didn't pick up my free coffee as I'm saving it for Friday when I go for a coffee before getting on the train.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7
