Good to see the hose recommendation as we treated ourselves to one of the same brand and played with it gleefully for a couple of weeks. Then the hosepipe ban started. My only complaint was that the model we got doesn't have a suitable nozzle for softly watering pots, and I've been a bit embarrassed to go and buy one in case people think I'm breaking the rules.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Morning all, happy Wednesday.
WFH today. Not as relaxing a start as I hoped for as firstly I didn't wake up until 5.30. Then just as I was relaxing with a coffee and my book the dog got up and wanted to be let out - then back in. I'd just sat down again and Mr SA got up and started clanking about in the kitchen. I gave up after that, did my daily Spanish challenges and went for a shower.
I've had a quick check of finances and paid off the cc balance. It will be NSD 2 of August today.
Today's exercise has been a live yoga session at 7.30 which was lovely and relaxing, dog walking later, a lunchtime abs session and Zumba tonight. I think that's a good mixture of things today.
Tonight's dinner is butternut squash orzotto - no recipe I'm just making it up as I go along loosely based on a butternut squash risotto method I've used loads of times before. Unfortunately I didn't pick up any new recipe ideas from the workshops on Monday as one focused mainly on cakes/puddings which I don't eat and the other was mainly focused on using leftover chicken so no good to me either. One of the workshops next Monday is focussing on Moroccan food so I'm looking forward to that one.
Gardening wise I'm going to set Mr SA a task to keep him occupied which is to remove the dead sweet pea plants and replace them with the new ones I've grown in the greenhouse. I can't do a lot of gardening tidying at the moment as the garden waste bin is full as is the wheelbarrow waiting for the bin to be emptied so I can fill it up again.
Housework task is cleaning the bedroom and entrance hall/stairs. I'm still on a mini decluttering mission and have moved on to the bedroom. Last night I sorted out my sock drawer and got rid of 8 pairs of socks I don't wear, will finish off the other drawers today.

I've downloaded a lovely free app called Encounter Nature which is a guided nature journal in your phone. It gives you seasonal prompts, tips and ideas which you can tailor to the area you live in. There's also a personal journal part where you can store photos of the things you've seen.
Mr SA has done the gardening job I allocated to him so that's one less thing for me to do. It took some explaining as he gets sweet peas and edible peas mixed up and yet again I had to tell him sweet pea pods are definitely not edible. In other gardening news my seeds have arrived and I picked a courgette, 3 tomatoes and some blackberries. I've earmarked an area of the garden for wildflower seed planting inspired by the park across the road.
The neighbour is on holiday and Mr SA has fished an old camping chair out of his skip. I was expecting this as he kept going on and on about it. It looks quite new although not that sturdy for Mr SA's weight. Mr SA can demolish camping chairs in days!!
As I have loads of spinach both in the garden and veg box and loads of potatoes, I've had a change of plan for tonight's dinner and am now making Chickpea, potato and spinach stew which I've made before and is very tasty. It will also use up half a jar of chickpeas in the fridge.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -
I also mis-use a hose lock. Mine is on a wheeled reel and inevitably gets left out. I’ve had a couple of different ends that have an adjustable squeeze trigger. Had it years.January spends - £587.582
