PennysIntoPounds said:Maybe with retirement in mind now is the time to impose a one in/one out rule? If he thinks he needs extra stuff for holiday and he's got something perfectly adequate, the equivalent item gets sold and added to your mutual retirement pot from which all his purchases are going to have to be made?
Or would he just ignore that all entirely 😁I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -

Morning all, here we are at Friday eve again.
WFH today and my final working day of the week. Already bought and picked up my rail tickets for tomorrow's trip, have saved £6.70 already with the railcard. Still haven't told Mr SA but will do so tomorrow morning when I set off.
I feel quite overwhelmed with things to do at the moment and can't fit everything I want to do in my day. Work is very busy too which isn't helping. I was asked to help out at an Easter event on the park across the road and although I'm free I've declined as I want the long Easter weekend to myself to get stuff done and generally catch up with things. Mr SA going on and on about what he thinks he needs for the holiday is also adding to the stress and I know he's building up to a trip into the city centre.
Today's exercise will be dog walking later this morning, a lunchtime weight training session and Zumba tonight.
Garden jobs wise I want to at least tidy up the patio and get the chair cushions out. I could do with buying some new cushions to freshen things up but the seat pads just need a wash.
I need to order the dog's prescription from the vets and then order her meds online so some money will need to be spent from the vet pot.
Housework wise I'd like to at least whizz round with the vacuum cleaner and wipe round.
Tonight's dinner will be something from freezer stocks. I could do with sorting out the freezer again and I know there's plenty of batch cooked stuff in there.
I'm going to try and finish work early today, I have over 17 hours in flexi time so it's not as if I can't spare the time off, although this depends on how the day pans out and if anything urgent needs finishing up with me being off tomorrow.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
You do loads and have lots to fit in, so not surprised you're a little stressed. Hopefully today nothing is urgent and you can get a fe hours extra this afternoon to do what you need to do.
I'm not sure anyone else would feel differently coping with Mr SA and his demands. Whilst you know it's a product of his condition, it's still tough dealing with it day in and out and like you said, you know where this is going already.
Have a lovely day tomorrow.

Would going part time for a while before you retire help at all, even one day a week less .? Anyway have a lovely day out tomorrow the weather looks nice as well. Glad you got the railcard sorted .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

I can feel your frustration over Mr SA. Would it make any difference to put a shopping trip on the calendar, possibly as near the holiday as possible so you don't have to go twice? If I remember rightly it's horrendous getting through the crowds etc so it must be something to dread.
Your trip out sounds good though, and the weather forecast is lovely.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I think the answer to me trying to fit everything in is to have a rejig my days, particularly in the week. I've been totally thrown off course since the clocks went forward and have been getting up slightly later which means I'm starting my working day later and having to finish later as a consequence. It's only around 30 minutes but it makes a difference. This is for the 3 days I'm in the office. A couple of weeks ago I managed to fit in 30 minutes cleaning after work and it made such a difference to my weekend.
I've managed to get Mr SA to tackle a job that's been on my to do list for weeks which is clean out the recycling bin when it's been emptied. We have the general waste bin washed once every 4 weeks but don't bother with the recycling one as it doesn't get that dirty on the whole there were just a few bits of paper stuck to the bottom. He moaned about it for a bit but eventually washed it out with the hosepipe he so enjoys using. So job done.
We've both received £50 in the current account for the big Nwide thank you. If he wants something new for the holiday he can use his £50.
I've worked out I can finish at 3pm and only lose 39 minutes of my flexi so will do that. It could've been earlier but I was out with the dog this morning and had a lunch break too. That will give me a couple of hours before Zumba to crack on with some housework and gardening.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6
