If I get the card it won’t cost me anything technically as I have £44.50 in Clubcard vouchers and would only need to use £17.50 of them for it. My next rail journey is in 2 weeks when I’m going to see my friend. It’s only a 40 minutes journey so I won’t save much but it all adds up.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I use my railcard a lot for walks, visits to other towns, lunches out with friends etc. We pick a different town each month to go out for lunch. I often use the bus from various stations to get out to the coast to save on extortionate parking charges.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I got my first Senior Railcard last year and saved money by getting a two-year version. Worth looking into, and also gives you access to promotions via email (not that I've ever used those and I don't use the card often, but it can pay for itself quite quickly).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Morning all, happy Friday eve. It doesn't seem like a week ago I was saying exactly the same thing. Time is flying by!
WFH today so no pavement pounding this morning.
I'm going to try the railcard, it's only costing me Mr T vouchers and I need to do something with some of them before they expire so nothing to lose really.
I noticed my local leisure centre are offering a free year's trial of an exercise app called Her Spirit so have signed up for it. There are live classes on there that interest me. I think it's to promote new classes at the centre in conjunction with this app and no doubt to try and encourage people to sign up to the leisure centre too. I do plan to re-start my membership when I retire but having looked at the classes I'm interested in the timing doesn't suit at present.
Today's exercise will be dog walking later, strength training at lunchtime and Zumba tonight.
Tonight's dinner is leftover black bean balls in Puttanesca sauce with pasta.
Money wise the £25 from Opinium has arrived in the current account which was a lot quicker than it took last time. Survey money this month will pay for a new pair of sparkly trainers I've had my eye on for a while.
Mr SA has been haunting the charity shop again and came home with yet more walking poles! Apparently these are better because they have little boots on the end 🙄 He's using them to get around the garden with at the moment. He's happy anyway and they've come out of his spending money.

As you are so active at the moment, by this I do not mean how many steps you do a day only, you will need to find things to keep you mentally as well as physically active. Like working, retirement can be just another rut that you get into. Forward planning is the key I think. Especially in your case as I am sure you are aware of the danger of just becoming Mr SA's carer.

The Railcard will be a good excuse to make sure you get your monies/Rewards worth. Your target, should you accept it, is to spend at least £118 on full price fares/ £83 on discounted Railcard fares in the next 12 months. Off you go.......!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3663

Morning all, happy Friday 😁
Working in the office today. I wish I hung my washing out as although it was raining when I left the sun is shining now, isn't that typical. I could ask Mr SA to attempt to hang it out but it's bedding and he gets into enough kerfuffle with normal washing.
It's really quiet in the office at the moment I'm sat on my own amongst rows of empty desks. This afternoon I'm at an awards ceremony, no pressure for me as I'm not nominated this time, it feels like quite a relief actually just to be a guest for a change.
It won't be a NSD as I need to go to Lid! on the way home and I've got quite a lengthy list, salad and veg mainly.
Today's exercise is just walking to/from work no extras when I get home, I plan to jump straight in the bath as I probably won't get home until 5-ish.
Tonight's dinner is tofu and stir fried veg.
Looking forward to putting my feet up with a glass of wine later.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
Happy Saturday 🥂
The whole morning revolved around going to the retail park to look for garden canes, hooks to fix the trellis to the fence and a few other garden related bits and bobs. I had planned to go on the bus on my own to save time but Mr SA insisted on coming with me on his scooter so it was an hour’s walk each way for me. Left the house at 8am and got back just before 12. Mostly a waste of time as I couldn’t find what I wanted apart from the canes. Got home and found all the stuff I couldn’t find in the shops on Am@zon and it’s arriving tomorrow. I should’ve just done that in the first place and saved myself 4 hours. And they wonder why people shop online 😐
I did get a great bargain from BnM though - 2 packs of 12 W@rburtons crumpets for 50p each. Not even out of date until 1 April. They are destined for the freezer for future breakfasts. I also picked up some air fryer spray oil while I was in there.
Despite aching feet did some gardening this afternoon while Mr SA went back to bed as the shopping had worn him out!
Just had a nice soak in the bath before preparing dinner. Trying another new recipe from The Vegan Air Fryer cookbook - sticky mushroom burger with homemade wedges and salad. Then it’s feet up on the sofa with rose Prosecco 🥂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
