How about using little sticky post-it notes (maybe cut a normal sized post-it note into three)? I use these to mark my music book for the songs I need to practice. There's just enough space to write the date. Maybe a post-it note cut into two would give room to add any post scripts about variations you made?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Banned Mr SA from the living room and gave it a good clean after work. I could do with one of those hazard signs that the cleaners at work use - no entry cleaning in progress 😆
Excellent news on the free gate repair. :)

Re the signs - they don't seem to work. :D Either that or the people who ignore them are those to whom signs don't apply.

I think if you use trains quite a bit, then the senior pass is a good idea. I was thinking of getting one and toddling off places sometimes, but never got round to it. TBH, most of the places I would fancy going are quite hard to get to on a direct train from here anyway. But for you I think it would be great, as think you must be quite close to a city station and you seem to like towns and cities. I am more of a countryside and coast girl myself.....lol.  And like you say, it would get you away from Mr SA for a day.

I don't use trains a lot, on average around 3-4 times a year. Although there's a train station fairly close to where I live it only offers a couple of routes so I'd need to use the city centre one just over 3 miles away. I much prefer coast and countryside to cities and towns but I've had to manage my expectations in recent years. I don't drive and Mr SA isn't allowed to so it's wherever I can get to easily nowadays. There is countryside within walking distance/short bus ride away from where I live. I can get a direct train to the East Coast but it's a couple of hours journey and I prefer to go places an hour away at the most.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

SA I have a railcard and mine has more than paid for itself , travelling to London got me the price back paid for the card . Great idea for your days out.

Going to my bil and back used to pay for itself in under 3 journeys. I would assume that your local route would connect to other routes  so would be able to use it to get to your main station as well. If you remember my trips involved 2 changes each way. Of course how long it takes to pay for itself depends on how much the fare is.
