Afternoon all, happy Tuesday.
WFH today just having a quick lunch break before my next meeting.
Mr M delivery arrived first thing so all put away before it was time to log on. Garden waste bin has been emptied.
9am was a trip to the dental hygienist cancelled from last week for a clean and polish.
Had to phone the company who made and fitted our gates at the end of 2023 as they need a bit of a repair. They're working locally so are coming to have a look at some stage today. Not sure if they're still under guarantee but whatever they still need looking at. Starting to wish I'd gone for metal instead of wood.
Trying some new recipes out of a new-ish cookbook The Vegan Air Fryer by Niki Webster, loads of recipes I want to make in this book and actually got plenty of the ingredients in stock. Tonight I'm having a go at bean balls in puttanesca sauce.
Hoping to get a chance to give the living room a good clean later when Mr SA goes for his shower. I keep trying to do as much as I can in the week to free up the weekends a bit but it doesn't always work out due to lack of spare time.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
Gates repaired free of charge 🙂 They said it was wind damage and they must be locked closed when it’s windy to prevent it happening again.
Banned Mr SA from the living room and gave it a good clean after work. I could do with one of those hazard signs that the cleaners at work use - no entry cleaning in progress 😆The black bean balls were delicious as was the puttanesca sauce. I’m going to start making a note of the recipes I particularly enjoy from my cookbooks because sometimes I forget which ones I really like. I couldn’t find the recipe online so can’t share it.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -
How about using little sticky post-it notes (maybe cut a normal sized post-it note into three)? I use these to mark my music book for the songs I need to practice. There's just enough space to write the date. Maybe a post-it note cut into two would give room to add any post scripts about variations you made? What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?2

Re the signs - they don't seem to work.Either that or the people who ignore them are those to whom signs don't apply.
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Just catching up on diaries. You do pack a lot into each day3

That's Wednesday almost done, just need to finish up a few bits before I can call it a day work-wise. Worked in the office until late morning then came home as I had a workshop over lunchtime.
Mid-week finance check done and all ticking over ready for payday. Cancelled a magazine subscription that doesn't renew until September but thought I might as well cancel now and look for a better deal in the meantime. I have £44.50 in Mr T clubcard vouchers, historically I used to use them to triple up and buy my magazine subscriptions but since they went down to double, and the subscriptions are horrendous prices if I do it that way, I find it cheaper to just do the 12 issues for £xx. I'm thinking about using part of the vouchers to buy a senior railcard (still can't believe I'm old enough for one 🤣). I don't catch trains that often but have been thinking about having the odd train trip on one of my secret days out just to go somewhere different (and where Mr SA can't appear on his scooter). I could also use it as a form of ID to get 10% off in Iceland on Tuesdays, not that I go in there very often but I do occasionally. It's £35 for the year so would cost me £17.50 in vouchers and save me some money to boot. I realise it would work out cheaper to get a 3 year one but I want to see how I go with 1 year first.
Exercise today has been walking to/from work and it's my beloved Zumba at 6pm.
Tonight's dinner is lemon and herb lightly dusted fish from freezer stocks with steamed veg. Not faffing about with recipes tonight.
Cleaning task is the bathroom, landing and bedroom. Nothing too in depth just general cleaning round. As the weather has been so lovely I've got 2 loads of washing dried outside but ironing can wait until tomorrow.

I think if you use trains quite a bit, then the senior pass is a good idea. I was thinking of getting one and toddling off places sometimes, but never got round to it. TBH, most of the places I would fancy going are quite hard to get to on a direct train from here anyway. But for you I think it would be great, as think you must be quite close to a city station and you seem to like towns and cities. I am more of a countryside and coast girl myself.....lol. And like you say, it would get you away from Mr SA for a day.Making the debt go down and savings go up

SA I have a railcard and mine has more than paid for itself , travelling to London got me the price back paid for the card . Great idea for your days out.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

Going to my bil and back used to pay for itself in under 3 journeys. I would assume that your local route would connect to other routes so would be able to use it to get to your main station as well. If you remember my trips involved 2 changes each way. Of course how long it takes to pay for itself depends on how much the fare is.2
