That's Monday done.
Walked to the office today and got absolutely drenched. It was snowing and raining at the same time. At least the snow couldn't settle. Loads of really deep puddles though and I've seen reports of floods locally. By contrast the walk home was in sunshine.
People at work were asking about my soup at lunchtime, saying the smell was gorgeous. Will definitely make this one again as it's so tasty.
Picked up my free coffee courtesy of 0ct0pus this morning.
It's the start of the new 4 budget period for the spending pots and the first grocery spend has been made with the first trip to Lid! of the year on my way home from work. I bet their profits have been down while I've been off 😆 A small oddment of £1.32 has been sent to the Christmas pot.
Today's exercise has been walking to/from the office 19,926 steps. Trying a new live exercise class at 6pm called Fun Fitness. No idea what that involves but going to give it a try.
Tonight's dinner is a portion of veggie stew with veggie sausages. All from fridge and freezer stocks.

that's a long walk to work and back, especially in the bad weather. Was awful here when DH left for work, the main road was flooded and a burst water main up there as well with ST trying to sort it out, took him ages to get to work apparently. Its about 5 or 6 miles, but think it took him about 40 mins today. . He had to take the car as too bad to go on his bike.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Thank you for the recipe links - you must have been looking in my fridge at what I need to use up!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Morning all.
WFH today, the Mr M delivery has been and all packed away.
I need to ring the vet later as the young cat is due her booster at the end of the month, the dog needs some more flea treatment and a prescription for her anti-inflammatories.
I usually sleep like a log but for some bizarre reason I always wake up in the early hours of a Tuesday morning and struggle to get back to sleep, rarely any other day of the week. It didn't help that the dog was a bit restless one minute on top of the bed, the next in it.
Today's exercise is dog walking later this morning, another new live class at lunchtime - Power Punch, then Resistance Bands tonight.
Tonight's dinner is roast veg risotto mainly to use up a red pepper looking very sorry for itself in the fridge and some mushrooms, shallots and tomatoes. It will also use up the last scrap of cream cheese before it goes mouldy; I think this is the first time ever I've finished off a tub of cream cheese 😆 Still got swede, carrots, parsnips and red cabbage from Christmas.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
That's the worst part of the working week done.
Worked in the office this morning then came home at lunchtime to finish up. It's been super busy the last couple of days now most people are back and raring to go after the Christmas break.
Oh my days the pavements on the walk to work this morning 😲 They were covered in frost and so slippery although it was worse once I got into the city centre as the frost was replaced with black ice. One poor woman slipped near the office and it looked like she'd badly hurt her leg. People were directing pedestrians away from the bit where she fell as it was treacherous. By contrast the walk back was fine as it had thawed out. It usually takes me around 50 minutes to walk from home and this morning it took me an extra 20 minutes just because I had to walk so slowly.
Mid-week finance check done and an oddment of £6.40 sent to the Christmas pot.
Small spend in Lid! on the way home and also popped into the international store for some harissa paste as it's only 89p a tube in there and is my preferred brand. I really should make more of an effort to go in there as it's so much cheaper than anywhere else. I like how they set their aisles out into different nationalities and the English aisle is where you can find pasta 😆
Today's exercise is walking to/from work 18,608 steps plus Zumba at 6pm so will be well over 20,000.
Tonight's dinner is another using up stocks meal with a portion of veggie chilli from freezer stocks with sweet potato wedges.
I've opted in for the 0ct0pus savings hour 5-6 but doubt I'll save much as I don't usually use much electricity between those hours anyway.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10 -
The ice is just horrendous. I should have gone out last night and this morning but cancelled them both. My friend has cancelled tomorrow for the same reason. Hope it thaws sooner than soon.January spends - £587.583

Yes, agree about the ice. You did well to get as far as the city centre, @Sun_Addict. I felt my feet slipping, in hiking boots, when I was standing still on our back courtyard! Our garden is still white with frost as are the houses & pavements opposite. Mr F says we have a colder night to come (I heard him explaining it to the cats).

You are very brave walking in the icy weather. I am just so terrified of slipping after already having broken a shoulder and wrist...not in icy conditions though. I see they are saying -4 here tomorrow morning and will feel like -7!Making the debt go down and savings go up
