We managed to pay off our mortgage just before I turned 50. It was the one thing we both wanted to do , we could have moved house a few times but just didn’t want a mortgage to go on and on. House was fine for us so couldn’t see the point. It was lovely when we had achieved it, no more worries about interest rates or worse having the house repossessed. I’ve tried telling my DS’s if they have the chance to overpay if possible but they aren’t interested as they said mortgages are for life now. After not much activity fireworks wise locally over the last few nights, tonight it sounds like a war zone. Luckily the dog isn’t bothered in the least.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Aw. I had my sister's dog tonight as her son does football and he's a shaking wreck. He's even had sedation tablets from the vets and is still shaking.
She's got him now and he's the same at home. Poor thing. She didn't want to leave him so asked me to help as he stays here a lot whilst she goes out or on holiday.
Glad your dog isn't bothered. My mum's dog isn't at all phased by them either. She just watches them.

Talk about a blast from the past, received an email from a hotel we stayed in a couple of times when Mr SA was pre illness, The Bear of Rodborough in Stroud. Apparently we are loyal customers and have been offered a discount. Must be 15 years, maybe more, since we last stayed there 🤣 The first time we went it was lovely, the food was amazing but the second time it had been taken over by someone else and wasn’t as good. Can’t vouch for it now obviously. We used to go away for the weekend regularly in those days, usually the Cotswolds, Stratford on Avon, York or Norfolk. Mr SA often used to hire a posh car to go in as a surprise for me. He once hired a sporty type car where you could roll the top down. We made it to the end of our road before I made him roll the top back up as it was messing up my hair 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

I used to have one of those cars in my 20s until some nice person stole it & back then I had a very fashionable tartan cap that I tucked all (& there was a lot) my hair into. Now I wouldn't be complaining about my hair as it is so very short but, my ears are cold & my back is seizing up with the cold & draft. As for the tartan cap, it was necessary as without it my hair was all over my face & I couldn't see where I was driving.

Not sure about their adherence to data protection, SA, but the offer sounds worth thinking about, provided the access is good and current reviews don't warn you off.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Happy hump day 😁
Working in the office all day today. Decided to do this afternoon's interviews from here. I've booked a quiet room to do them from.
As I'm working such a long day I took an hour's break earlier and went to BnM for a few bits I need to finish off the refurb. Still not got everything but getting there. I might have to catch the bus home as I have 3 bags of stuff including 2 huge cushions.
Today's exercise is walking to work and to BnM, should hit over 20,000 steps even without walking home. Zumba is being replaced with ClubFit tonight but doubt I'll be home in time for the 6pm start.
Tonight's dinner is the final portion of vegan nut roast from freezer stocks with lots of veg.
Mr SA phoned to say his camouflage trousers have arrived and he's happy with them. The next thing on his pester list is desert boots - I don't know where he gets his ideas from!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -

Just a quickie as I'm between interviews. I've only gone and won a work award 😁 Some of you may recall I got through to the finals of 2 sets of awards, one ceremony was in London a few weeks ago and I didn't win. I couldn't make it to this ceremony as it would've required an overnight stay and a very long train journey. I've just got a message saying I've won my category. I won't get a prize but it's still nice to win.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)12
