A possible counter-strategy would be to tie a tape measure round it - a pink one.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

OMG you lot 🤣🤣🤣 My bet is when I’m in London on Wednesday, probably halfway through the awards ceremony he’ll ring and ask what I’ve done with the key because it’ll be my fault if he loses it 🤣
He’s been worrying about his dinner on Wednesday because the ceremony doesn’t finish until 5pm then obviously I’ve got to make my way home, I’ve booked an open return but going to aim for the 6pm train so may not be home until 8pm or later. I said I’d put him something in the slow cooker but he now wants a baguette and salad with nice ham, a pork pie and ‘decent’ crisps as the slow cooker is too messy for him apparently. Reminded him my dinner may well consist of whatever I can grab from the train station and eat on the train but he’s not interested as it’s my fault I’m off gallivanting so tough luck😐
Another thing he asked how much is this ‘jolly’ is costing us, not a penny mate work are paying 😞 I can claim back for a coffee and food on the train.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -

We won't tell anyone where you are if you accidentally stay on the train to another destination and then can't get back for a decade because of.. reasons4

I bought a ticket at a small station, aiming to get home that afternoon. I didn't notice till too late that the person had misheard and the ticket was to a similar-sounding place 175 miles away. Thankfully the conductor was okay about it and as far as I remember, I was able to buy the correct ticket on the train. I was refunded for the erroneous one - it might have been interesting to go exploring but I was due on shift that afternoon!
Actually, if you get the right train, you could end up in the south of France. Just saying...I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Morning all.Had a brilliant idea this morning that will minimise disruption while the refurb is taking place. If I get DD’s room painted first, then the flooring done she’ll only need to move her things out during the day of the floor fitting. The wardrobes are going on the opposite wall to where she’s having her bed so it can be in situ while they’re being built. I could do the painting, take a couple of days off work when she’s out at work to get it done. Then all I need to do is move the dining room furniture into the living room for a couple of days while the works are taking place. It would be a lot easier.Definitely something to seriously think about.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Sounds like a plan!

That sounds like well thought out project management. My only questions is whether the workers will comply, but it sounds like a good plan to me. Anything to minimise the disruption.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I’ve run the idea past DD and she wasn’t keen on me doing the painting at first. Then she said she won’t be able to sleep with the smell of paint 🙄 Having looked at her room it won’t exactly be an easy job but having watched a YT painting tutorial this morning I’m under the impression I’m now a fully qualified painter 🤣
Put a colour on my hair this morning despite not being a hairdresser so I’m sure I can paint a room!I pass a trade decorating shop on the way home from work so I’m going to pick up a colour chart tomorrow. I still need to buy paint regardless of who does it.My neighbour owns a carpet shop so will ask him to do the flooring.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7
