It was yesterday I had the day off from hospitals.Visited Mr SA today, he is fine and enjoying his hospital food 🙂 I took him a coffee which he enjoyed.DD is still incarcerated due to low blood count. She needs to be on 80 and she’s currently 74. She was on 40 when she was admitted so she’s getting there. Her room is looking a lot better and I found a storage box in the cupboard under the stairs so put a few things in that. No wonder the GKs love going in her room, I’ve never seen so many packets of crisps, sweets and chocolate. It will be a pain to get her room painted and new flooring as she has the huge computer desk and gaming set up plus the huge bed but we’ve done it before the last time her room was renovated.Went to look at the £1 plants at the garden centre but they had been well picked over and very few left. I did pick up two tomato plants and a Chinese leaf plant though. So £3 spent there. The tomato plants are quite big and flowering. After lunch I weeded the drive and cut the grass. Then sat in my hanging chair with the dog reading my book, 23,281 steps done so a well earned rest. Had a long soak in the bath with a face pack afterwards.Thank goodness I’m WFH all week it’s made it so much easier for me not to think about getting up early and pounding the pavements with my heavy backpack.

Forgot to say I air fried a piece of salmon with a diced potato in garlic and fresh Rosemary from the garden with steamed asparagus, baby corn and broccoli for my dinner. Was very nice 👌I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10

Morning all, happy Monday.
Should be a hospital free day today. DD doesn't need anything and SIL is supposed to be visiting Mr SA today. I've told Mr SA not to let SIL arrange anything care wise. She would have me spending every last penny of my savings on a stair lift and downstairs toilet. Apart from the recent hospital visit she hasn't seen Mr SA for 5 years despite living less than 10 miles away and having a car. She has no idea how he manages at home.
DD may be home today if her blood count goes up so I'm going to finish the last bit of tidying. Will nip out to the CS this morning to see if they've still got those storage baskets. If not I can shuffle a few things about and she can have two of mine and I can replace them next time I go to the big Mr T.
I'm sure they'll both be home by this weekend so making the most of having the house to myself. It has never been so clean and tidy!
I have Friday booked off to go to a friend's house, hopefully this will still be happening as I've been looking forward to a catch up.
I'm going to do a litter pick on the park this morning, I'm expecting a fair bit after the weekend's good weather. I might have another go at trying to take the dog but on a separate visit.
Today's exercise: aiming for minimum of 15,000 steps, live hooping session at 6pm and I'm going to try the live Yogalates session at 8pm for the first time, been wanting to try this one for a while.
Finance wise I only plan to buy the storage baskets if they're still there so a low spend day. I've cleared the balance from the CC and the overspend on last week's grocery budget was offset by a very low spend last week so well back on track with that.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10 -
Just delurking to say I hope you can enjoy having some time to yourself. You must be missing them both of course, but it seems (been following your diary for a long time) that you almost never get any time just for you. Even in your spare time you are litter-picking!I hope you can relax knowing they are both being looked after.
I know Mr SA has rejected the idea of a ‘companion’ carer before but it seems to me that his needs have changed since he first suffered the brain injury. The hospital should be looking into all that before he comes home, and perhaps it’s time for a change. Often it’s only when we look back at something that we can see it clearly. Enjoy your respite!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.7 -
Thank you for delurking @PollyWollyDoodle
I've just had a lengthy conversation with the hospital occupational therapist and Mr SA has passed the stairs test so he's coming home this afternoon. He's got a care package in place and she's trying to get me something that will assist me getting him up off the floor if he falls and also look into whether there is anything in existence where I can ring to get him up rather than having to call an ambulance. They are bringing him back in an ambulance rather than me have to fetch him. She admitted we need more help than we've been getting. He will also get regular visits from a physiotherapist to help with his mobility.
He has absolutely driven me nuts this morning, constantly phoning in tears wanting to come home. I feel so stressed as I can't get on with anything. I've told him to stop phoning he's coming home that's it I'm not taking any more calls from him.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9 -
Well done for putting a boundary in place, you need room and it must be frustrating to have this change of plans when you thought you had more time. It's good that he's improved so much, and (small silver lining) you probably won't have to cope with SIL much now.
It's great there will be a physio in place, though the use of that will depend on his compliance. however, it's another professional with whom you can flag up issues. I'm not sure what sort of gadget they might come up with to help with falls, but some may depend on him being able to get to a seated position, so your advice may be needed on what he can do. Best would be if they can get some on-call system to help lift him, if such a thing exists.
How is your DD?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
