I can understand your DiL being wiped out.  I had an MRI a few weeks ago & the noise!!! even with ear plugs & headphones provided was enough to drain me for a while, that on top of having to keep completely still, especially if you are in pain.  I must admit I never thought that just lying there whilst a machine went backwards and forwards over me would be so exhausting.  I couldn't even be bothered replacing my bra (they have metal in even if only the hooks) or even my dental plate which has a little bit of metal so needs removing.  So grateful for a face mask & a winter coat too!
Mr SA has to have a MRI every year and I’ve had to go in with him before when he wouldn’t keep his legs still. I had to hold his legs while they did it and had to remove all my jewellery but I couldn’t remove my naval piercing. I was given ear protectors but it was still very loud. He used to have them every 3 months so once a year is a vast improvement.

Hard on your DS too.  As I expect a bigger load of the family things will be on him alongside what must be an extra worry.  Just dreadful to think about & I hope the children are not TOO affected by it, but they must sense enough to be worried even if they don't know why.

I got a sense that DGD was quite down today, she was very quiet. DGS is autistic and it’s hard to judge whether he’s picked up on it.

I'm sorry your DIL isn't feeling well. It's very tough for all of you.

I don't know how old DGS is but I suspect he is aware. He may or may not be able to express it and if he can't, it might come out as a change in his behaviour sooner or later (I work with autistic adults but this is an observation not a professional opinion). If he's old enough for 'social stories', they might help him find a way to understand/express himself.

I hope your DIL gets a workable balance in her life.

SA who do you use for annual holiday insurance? We were using Staysure but last year because I had to add that I have polycythemia vera (classed as blood cancer: an excess of red blood cells), it went up by £900 !! DH has had three health issues for decades.

House-moving stories ... we offered on a house, put our house up for sale in the local weekly newspaper, got an offer on publication day, and when we asked our solicitor how quickly he could process the sale he said "go home and pack". 6 weeks later we had moved in.

MRI scan stories ... ex-DH had metal staples in his jaw and skull after a car crash and some eejit wanted to do an MRI scan!!!
And did you read yesterday of the bloke who didn't remove his hidden gun before going in for a scan and shot himself dead?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

I use Money Supermarket for the quotes and invariably end up going with Insure For. It was £67.95 for the both of us for the year and this was the Premier insurance as it was only £3 more than the lower cover. Mr SA is classed as cured for his lymphoma as it’s more than 5 years since he last had treatment for it. I have to declare his brain injury in case he has a fall. I have no health issues and don’t take any medication.

    No I didn’t read that story 😱

Waiting eagerly to see what Mr SA does with the logs. Hope he doesn’t do himself (or anyone else) a mischief  with them. Has it made a big difference to the light in the garden?
It must be hard for you all seeing dil poorly as you’ve all  had first hand experience. Not an easy time.
