I am dreading our utility bill as we have had the heating on a lot while dh has been ill. The first thing he has been doing when he gets up is put the heating on and as he is coughing so much he is up much earlier then usual. I read our meter on or about the 20th so will be waiting with bated breath.

I love the candle. I hope it smell as good as it looks.

    Lovely candle xx

have gone from your silver lining diary to Kissjen’s diary which I read in one day. So very moving - and a testament to the community on this forum.

Perhaps this will sound disingenuous but shed tears for Kissjen, her SB and all those who showed their love for them on here.

Sorry total subject shift but re 🐙 credit - that
is a good buffer. If we let the gas heating rip we
would probably be spending about £500 a month on heating alone. (house is a leaky sieve for heat). Our heating this month is on course for £150 very carefully managed and was £85
for the whole month of November which wasn’t bad considering those cold days we had. Roll on summer…

Our house is a leaky old sieve for heating too. Add to the mix I think anything below 25 degrees is freezing. I actually shed a tear when we lost Kissjen and Taxi73 as they had been such a support to me when Mr SA wasn’t doing so good. It was so upsetting to read what was to be their final posts, damned cancer 🙁

I'm just grateful I have savings as I expect my energy bill (well the DD) to go back over £300 in the new year.  If I get cold I just seize up & then everything goes from bad to worse.  At least we've cut down some as the computers are no longer on 24/7.  There were some "you will have to contribute extra" comments made to make sure that happened.  We have made some significant reductions in the last 18 months even though it may not seem like it.

A Scottish work friend has her heating set to 17 degrees which I think is absolutely freezing but she thinks is quite warm 🥶 Starting to think it’s me being over sensitive!

Your Scottish work friend is clearly made of tough stuff 💪🏻 - we are 19 degrees here but we have a log burner and electric under blanket on the bed.

Mine is 22.5 as any less & I've tried is just seize up time.  That is now down from 23.5 & DS keeps complaining he's cold at that.

Not just me then - hallelujah! Mine is on 21 and I’m still cold. Have reduced it to 19 to see if it makes a difference to the bill. It’s difficult when Mr SA hardly moves and the days I’m WFH and chained to my desk.

  • Beautiful candle.
Our heating is set on 17 now, was a lot higher last month, but will get turned up a bit if it gets really cold again. Its the lounge that always feels cold, the rest of the house is not too bad. I've started to turn CH off at 7pm & then we have the living flame gas fire on economy setting for an hour or 2 if we need it. Would rather snuggle under blankets though.
