Sorry about Mr SA"s fall. Whilst I appreciate their concern and the walk in shower, your mental health and enjoyment should also be a factor. That is how you destress and that is a critical too..

    Hope you're both ok. X

I agree that you shouldn't have to sacrifice your bath. After all, if you're having to pick Mr SA up, you probably need a soak in the bath for your muscles to recover! You have enough to deal with, without being expected to give up the things that help you cope with it all. Do you have room for a chair or stool in the bathroom for him to sit on while cleaning his teeth? Or could he just shut the lid on the loo and sit on that (which is what I did when I couldn't stand to clean my teeth!).

All-nighters aren't the same when it's not a fun activity. So sorry to hear you've all had this to endure, and I hope there's some rest for all of you today. Can you get perhaps get Mr SA up mid morning so he will sleep this afternoon and you could rest at the same time?

I completely get it that you don't want to change the bath for a walk-in shower and my instincts say that's a standard recommendation and, as you suggest, doesn't really take all circumstances into consideration.

Would a drop-down seat for Mr SA be any use? (Would he use it?) Or even a platform bath, though they are bound to be massively expensive. I can't find a link but the sort I mean has a second layer to the base which rises and sinks at the touch of a button so he could be raised to a point where his feet could swivel over the side, and enable him to change his centre of balance and be assisted to stand.

Sorry to hear this. What a thing to happen. Bath edge much too narrow for a person with poor balance to sit on..Glad it was eventually resolved & that Mr SA wasn't hurt but a stressful night for you all.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
