After you retire SA will you still be in a position to have your two holidays a year? I know how much you enjoy them and how important the breaks are for your wellbeing and mental health.

I'll have to see how things are money-wise as I'll be around £1k a month worse off when I retire. Definitely hoping for one holiday a year if nothing else. For us it's much easier to go abroad than it is to holiday in the UK but maybe we could manage a short break in the UK as well.

Working in the office today but overseeing an event so not at my desk. We have external visitors so I need to escort them to the toilets etc. It will be finished just after lunchtime so will go back home after that, maybe log back on if it's not too late in the day. Will be glad when it's done though as I'm limited to what work I can do just having the laptop to work from.

Well I survived the event but ended up logging back on at home for an hour. I've got lots to do and I want to keep on top of everything with me breaking up on Friday.
Today's exercise has been walking to/from work and I'm doing a live resistance bands class tonight.
Tonight's dinner is veggie sausages with the PON creamed leeks and cabbage and steamed veg.

Morning all, happy hump day.
WFH today thank goodness. Had a nice relaxing start to the day.
Mr M delivery arrived just before 7am, just a small delivery this week with the holiday looming.
Mid-week finance check done and cc balance cleared.
Today's exercise live yoga (done), dog walking later this morning, a YT afro beats sessions and a YT arms/abs session.
DD is at work today so the usual giving the kitchen and bathroom a good clean while she's out of the way.
Tonight's dinner is tofu stir fry which will use up a few fridge bits.
To do list:
- Order currency to collect Friday
- Book taxi to/from airport
- Vintage CC - need to box up ready to take to the PO tomorrow
- Phone customer services about the jet washer (this is becoming a frog!)
- Renew senior railcard - I now have a photo so no excuse (got someone at work to take my photo against a plan wall yesterday)
- Remove gel varnish ready for nail appointment tomorrow
- Check I've got a birthday card for Mr SA
Ideally I'd like to tick everything off this list today. Most of them won't take long.
I also have a ton of holiday packing related things to do. I'm not usually this behind with things! It doesn't help when I also have to do Mr SA's packing and he keeps shouting out random items I might have forgotten. I wonder how many lip balms/pairs of shoes he'll try to sneak into his case.

Gosh, yes....do check that suitcase last thing or you might fly out then discover it contains man-bags, lip balms & no pants!
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!2 -
One year the dog had buried a bone amongst his clothes which was a bit of a surprise at the hotel 🤣

All done in just over half an hour.
The jet washer is faulty and they've already despatched a replacement. Very impressed with their customer services. She went through everything checking I'd put it together properly while I tested it over the phone and agreed it wasn't working as it should. The call only lasted 10 minutes tops, no idea why I kept putting it off.
The VCC box is all packaged up to go tomorrow. I'm not expecting to get much for the things as most of them are old things cluttering up the place that I didn't know how to dispose of. They accept old phones working or not so there are 4 old phones in there, an old iPad, a Nintendo Wii with accessories and games, a Swarovski bracelet I haven't worn for years and a Waterman pen I haven't used since the 1990s. Even if I get next to nothing the items will be recycled and more importantly out of the house instead of cluttering the place up. The box is quite heavy and I did think about asking Mr SA to take them on his scooter but he'd want to vet everything in the box and want to keep things even if they're no longer wanted.
The house insurance renewal quote came through at £1 less than last year so accepted the renewal. I'd got £150 in the house insurance sinking funds and the quote was £111.03 so will be sending the surplus £38.97 to the Christmas pot.
Had a letter about the P 6 months saver maturing so have opted to open a new 6 months saver and the remainder to be sent to the current account. The interest rate has gone down a fair bit on the new account but still decent. This pot was destined for PBs but thinking about using it for the new shed and putting money in the PBs when another regular saver matures. I'd like to get some painting done inside the house too.
Getting all this stuff done at lunchtime meant I didn't have time to clean the kitchen and bathroom but DD goes to the gym on Wednesday evenings so will get another chance later. I thought it was more important to get the to do list done.
