This is the official recipe. I halve the sugar to 50g.
- 3 large black bananas
- 75ml vegetable oil or sunflower oil, plus extra for the tin
- 100g brown sugar
- 225g plain flour (or use self-raising flour and reduce the baking powder to 2 heaped tsp)
- 3 heaped tsp baking powder
- 3 tsp cinnamon or mixed spice
- 50g dried fruit or nuts (optional)

It just shows that you see what you expect to see as I read that as 2 tsps. I don't even buy self raising any more, it does save on storage space. I tend to weigh my bananas in their skins & anything between 400 & 500gm will do. Mine is a very very old recipe & uses less sugar & butter not oil like all my old recipes. Something new to try - see how DS likes it as my version gives me the dreaded bloat.

Afternoon all, happy Monday.
Worked in the office until lunchtime, WFH this afternoon.
Stopped off at Lid! on the way home and managed to get a great fruit/veg box for £2. It filled a large carrier bag and it's all stuff I'll use. Very pleased again. Already hit the target spend for the free bakery item.
Monday finance check done. CC balance cleared. The big payday money shuffle has been done, albeit a few days late. All the regular savers have been topped up as have all the sinking funds pots.
New 4 week budget period starts today so closed off the last budget period. For the food/alcohol pots there was a combined underspend of £41.90. The oddment was sent to the Christmas pot and the remainder to the stock up shop pot. For the other spending pots there was a combined underspend of £136.36. The oddment was sent to the Christmas pot and the remainder has gone back into the house/entertainment/Mr SA spends pots.
Surveys/TCB: £32.42 from PA and £9.11 from TCB. This will go to boost my personal spends pot. Almost at the £20 mark with Opinium and just a few points off cashing out £50 on YG.
I have another catch up with friends to look forward to later in the month which involves a train ride and taking the day off work. Looking forward to that.
Today's exercise is walking to/from work and live strength training tonight.
Tonight's dinner is a portion of butternut squash dhal and a mini garlic naan from freezer stocks.
I was kicking myself this morning as I didn't put a wash on and the weather has been perfect for drying. So I was really pleased to find out DD had done it and pegged it out. Shock!! Even bigger shock she's been out to replace the milk that was yet again about to run out!

I've got veg box envy again - I've not had so much of a sniff at one for ages now!
Great work from DD getting the washing sorted for you, AND bought milk too - wonders will never cease! I ran a load overnight and we stuck it on the line this morning so I'm hoping it won't pick up to much damp once the daylight goes as it won't be brought in before 7pm at the earliest. Still beats drying indoors though!

Yes, great you have a day with friends to look forward to.
You have been doing well with the veg boxes lately. I miss mine. They make such a difference to the budget I find. Also, do you find yourself eating more veg as a result?

I’ve always been a massive veg eater so hasn’t made any difference in that respect. I tend to live on mainly veg 😆

Afternoon all.
Worked in the office this morning with the intention to stay until lunchtime but Mr SA phoned me that many times he drove me to distraction so I came back home to sort him out. The first call was to inform me that there were only 3 slices of bread for his breakfast toast instead of 4!!! The second, third and fourth calls were to check the date/time of his dentist appointment on Thursday. the sixth call was to ask what time I was coming home and the seventh call was to say he wanted to ring the dentist to check his appointment date/time but he couldn't find the number. Aargh!
I needed the walk home to decompress as I was about tearing my hair out at this stage.
Once back home I showed him a text confirming his dentist appointment which he claimed didn't match what he'd written in his diary. Oh so the dentist is wrong then not Mr SA's diary 🤔😖
Anyway…
Not a NSD as I've got a Mr M delivery arriving this afternoon and I bought a bunch of daffodils from Lid! when I popped in to pick up Mr SA's free muffin.
Today's exercise has been walking to/from work and it's live resistance bands tonight.
Tonight's dinner is Satay Tofu & Noodles trying a new recipe from the Two Chubby Cubs Air Fryer book.

Ohhhh, @Sun_Addict, I should think you were just about ready to decamp to the shed with a stiff gin & a box over your head by the time you got home. I assume that the brain injury means there is no longer any sense of understanding that persistently ringing you during work hours is inappropriate. Ringing in an emergency is one thing, but not to inform you about the state of household bread supplies. I suppose you do have to answer your phone though, in case it is something serious like tripping over & not being able to get up, etc.
And it's hardly as though THREE TOASTS is a titchy little breakfast!
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!4 -
As above - I do feel for you. Would AidCall be an option or would he be using it all the time? Just trying to think of something to ease the reliance/pestering…..
