My mum was the nightmare person when she was in hospital. She already had late stage Alzheimer's and vascular dementia then she had a stroke. She shouted my name every 20 seconds for 23 hours an day - only stopping when I visited when she was so exhausted she promptly fell asleep. I tried to visit for as long as I could to give the staff and other patients a break. She was in hospital for 8 weeks and never stopped. Then she came home and the shouting continued unless she could see me. It was so out of character, before her stroke she was the quietest most placid person you would ever meet. She would have been horrifiedLove living in a village in the country side9

Hope everything goes well today and that you are soon able to go home, Jackie.
If eating is a bit of a chore, would you feel up to a bit of mashed banana? My apologies if that makes you feel about 2 years old, but bananas do contain some of virtually every vitamin and mineral we need apart from calcium, and are also calorie-dense, so may be worth considering.

My mother started singing Amazing Grace - all night long when she had dementia - both in the nursing home and when she came home. The nursing home started sedating her earlier. And when she came home I had someone come over and stay with her at night and she would sing other things together with my mother as well.6

Good Morning chums ,well yesterday didn't go as planned and I'm still awaiting the procedure. But hey ho although its disappointing it is what it is . I'm being well looked after and the staff couldn't be kinder.
I have nicknamed the lady who seems to want my blood on a daily basis 'Mrs Munster'but even she is a sweetie.
Unfortunately because I can't have any needles of any sort in my right arm because of the long term lymphodema, my left arm is like a pin cusion, and they are running out of veins to put the cannula's in(apparently when they do they will start on my left foot
) not so much fun as I have had them there before.
But onwards and upwards.
The noisy lady was moved thank goodness, and although she has a broken ankle, there is apparently nothing else wrong with her. In her new spot she has been very quiet and subdued, but one of the nurses told us that the one in charge of her particular ward will brook no nonsence from her .
We thought perhaps she had a dementia problem at first, but it seems she is perfectly lucid and obedient in the new ward. Perhaps she just didn't like her ex ward mates who she thought were Hoi Polloi , although we all tried to reason with her to behave better, but she was very imperious and obviously used to better things than our lowly ward with ordinary people
I hope she is more polite to her new set of nurses as she was very rude and obnoxious to our ones. To the extent I'm surprised she wasn't reported for her nasty racist attitude. Our lasses on our ward are lovely, and are from all over the world . I was woken this morning for the BP and drug run at around five by a sweet little West Indian lass called Daisy who wakes you so gently bless her. Almost apologetic for waking you from a deep sleepShe can't be more than about 24 and she's a real dear little soul with a huge smile and a very gentle manner.
Our hospital is supposed to be in 'special needs' but I have found them nothing but brilliant . The NHS at its best, even my Dr came round to apologise for being 'bumped for a day or so as they are flat out in theatre apparently.
My children have been amazing, and I've not had a visiting time when one of the family having been in to see me. They even let my eldest granddaughter Katie come in for half an hour yesterday with my little great granddaughter Ida, who wanted to show Granny how big she had got now she was 3 (birthday last Sunday) and not only that, she informed me very gravely that she can put her boots on herself with no help from Mummy ,Daddy or her big sister.
because 3 is definitely now grown up status. She charmed the socks off both the fellow patients and the nurses and asked every one if they felt better.
This afternoon my youngest daughter Tess is coming with my DGS Jack, who is home for the first weekend from his new residential school where he is teaching. Also his younger brother Mikey, who is off back to Uni tomorrow after his Christmas break. So the time seems to go fairly quickly, but I'm still looking forward to going home.
Everyone is so kind and I do appreciate all your good wishes, so fingers crossed it won't be too long. Both DDs want me to go to theirs but I honestly ,much as I love the both of them am really wanting to be in my own little sitting room with my bits and pieces around me.
I hope everyone has a good weekend, and it doesn't, as forecast get colder and we don't get any of the possible expected snow.
Take care everyone

Sorry about cancellation, hope you are keeping up with the (smallish) meals so you will be a bit stronger when it happens. What a lovely family you have, working together to be helpful! Best wishes, hope you will be home soon xx5

There’s one thing Jackie, thinking all the free heat you’ll be getting in hospital! 🥵See if you can wangle another week out of it, proper cold arctic draught coming down next week…. 🥶I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.10

He arrived laden with grapes , diced watermelon, and 6 x 2 litre bottles of spring water, as I'm not keen on the taste of the hospital water. He was bursting to tell me about his new teaching job.he is thoroughly enjoying it and he has a three bedroomed semi detached house on site that he shares with an Australian lass and a South African lad. They all seem to get on quite well together as they are all around the same age group. The three of them have been invited to the Headmasters house for dinner next week, to welcome them to the school. He gets all of his meals free and his rent is only £400 odd a month taken from his wages before he gets paid .If he does ,as he has been doing a couple of nights in the evening supervising the boarders for games, gym swimming or even homework, he gets paid extra for that which actually covers the cost of his rent.
No wonder he is beamingI'm really pleased for him and glad he has found the job of his dreams .He said he should be able to save for a decent car for when he passes his test.
Eldest DD is coming tonight, she has been painitng all day as they have had the builders in but she insists on coming in bless her.
`just about to eat some rice pudding for tea, nice and soft so it will go down nicely
Cheers chums
