Right back from the chiro......and the good news is the lump on my shoulder blade is nothing to worry about and is fixable. I've had it about 3 years so I knew it wasn't anything life threatening or I wouldn't be here now 😂🤣. But obviously it is having an impact and needs to be dealt with. I was concerned I might need surgery to remove it but apparently not. So it's all good.Anyway they took x rays, photos and scans and put me through my paces. I get the results on Friday and should then be able to start my treatment plan. I discussed joining a gym and/or exercise classes and was told not yet. Not to be in too much of a hurry. Just walking and physio exercises. It's the same with ditching the frump isn't it.It takes years to become a frump and it has taken years for my body to seize up the way it has (plus several accidents and traumas😱😂) . That's why, I am trying to be realistic and am setting myself a timescale of 1 year to reach my goals. Difficult isn't it because we all love quick results but sometimes you just have to invest your time and effort.
Watty.....I have one of those calf stretcher board thingies. I was prescribed it for plantar fasciitis. They are quite painful until you get used to them (until they've done what they are designed to do) but they do work. They help loosen the tendons and hamstrings and so should definitely help with lower back pain.Well done deleting the game on your phone. One of my resolutions this year is to spend less time on both tv and social media. Both great time wasters and very addictive.I am now officially back on WW. Weighed myself this Morning. Have regained 4.4lb so not too disastrous. My interim target is lose 1 stone by Easter. 13 weeks so should be achievable.Onwards and upwards (make that downwards haha).7 -
Good news about the lump Helen 🙂
Purple Pixie - I hope you manage to persuade your DH that moving closer to your family sooner rather than later makes sense 😊
We had also been considering a move closer to family possibly during 2023 (we're in rural SW Wales, whilst most of ours are along the South coast of England), but there's no way our place will be ready to sell this year as we still have a few - albeit smallish, think cloakroom and building a new enclosed porch/boot room - DIY projects to complete. We mark our five year anniversary of buying the old mill in the middle of February and had hoped it would all be done by now, but that's what comes of being perfectionists, lol 😆
After all the horrible rain/wind here (sadly more on its way), we've had a couple of decent dry, sunnyish days and have taken advantage of this to move more of the laurels and other out of control 'trees' that were growing along our front boundary - and which we removed last April - to another part of the garden ready for chopping into logs. As a result we both feel as though we've had a proper workout!
We also sold some bits over the weekend to an architectural antiques dealer, clearing more outside space and making a few £££ in the process 😁
Today I've been rejigging decorative stuff in the living room, bringing in a couple of items from elsewhere in the house (including the white pelican in the attached pic who was previously in the bathroom) - I love having a good stash of pieces to 'shop' from when a change is needed, particularly as I'm still getting used to the lack of Christmas tree in there 😉
I'm still determined not to buy anything during Jan...although there is an antique fair I've got in my sights at the end of the month 🙄 It's not been held since prior to the pandemic, so would be nice to attend that again!

I was going to say every time I catch up with this thread I keep thinking about Chanie. I have noticed she hasn't been on here much (or at all?) I hope she is okay or maybe she hasn't bookmarked this new 2023 thread.6 -
I fell off the not spending in January wagon and bought, wait for it................... oh the excitement
a new mop. Oh dear I have always done the floors on my hands and knees, a mop can't compete but I'm going to be 70 shortly and I thought a mop for the quick clear up with me still doing it on my hands and knees every week or so to keep it the way I like it. I've never been keen on mops so we will see how it goes.7 -
Thank you liberty-lily I keep trying but not holding out much hope.4

Hello Ladies,
Purple Pixie, your local hardware shop should have a scrubbing brush that has a broom handle. That would give your floors the good scrub you prefer without you having to get down on your hands and knees. I was 1st introduced to them in Germany when I was an army wife as German housewives do not use mops.
Liberty Lily another lovely photograph, I enjoy seeing your home styling.
This morning I went to the Sea Containers hotel for the Neighbourhood Voices meet and greet with all of the actors and directors. It was so entertaining listening to the actors do a read through of all of the writers work.
I met the 2 female actors and the female director today and watched them as they turned my written words into a short drama. It was so fascinating and exciting to watch as each of them put their own experience on my words. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished drama on Friday with my son and daughter at the Sea Containers hotel. Each of the writers dramas are only 3 minutes long, but they all pack such a punch and say so much.
I used my £67 Energy Support Scheme December voucher to top up my Gas prepayment meter today.

Inspired by this thread yesterday I tidied myself up and went into town to the Womens Aid One Stop Shop. I put on a dress and then found my lovely winter coat to go out in. I felt so much smarter than usual even if my footware was my riding boots as that was all I could find.
Got a referral to a charity that might be able to help with my situation. I'm not in danger physically but my ex is doing a lot of low grade bullying and refusing to settle the finances after over 2 years and a private hearing. We were not married so the law isn't really much help either and all agree that the abuse is present but it is not significant enough to act. Frustrating really when schools stamp on any kind of bullying and take it really seriously but then later in life bullying is just met with a shrug of the shoulders and it "is not bad enough for a judge to intervene"
Anyway back to my frump to fab thread i made the effort to look more fab than frump. As I was having to be in the local town, I took a ring that has a lot of sentimental value to be re-sized. This has needed doing for many many years and has just laid in a box but I think I would look and feel great wearing it. My mum had it made from her wedding and engagement rings and it is a lovely ring. I'm really looking forwards to getting that back.
Before bed I shaved my legs, used a body scrub on my feet and then slapped on a lot of moisturiser. I've also deleted a game from my phone (I cannot be fab wasting hours of my time on that game). I know I was using the game as a way to escape my life but it is time to start facing up to doing what I can rather than avoiding the mess i am in (not just frump mess but all messes). It is a real struggle not to re-download it but 2 days in I've only done that once and then deleted it after three plays.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -

Mrs Catz compliments really make a difference to the recipient. Your effort is already paying dividends.
I just entered my play for the Bush Theatre playwriting competition for 2023 as the closing date was Monday 9th January. As I am getting pampered and primped for my friend's birthday party in the pub tomorrow night, I though I had better get on with it today. I have to wait 8 months at least to find out if my play is worthy of the long list.Goodness that is a long time to wait, fingers crossed for you.4
