Good morning @helensbiggestfan and happy new years eve to you! 😁
I've been a regular reader of this thread over the past year and found it very inspirational- I'm so glad you have made the move from your old home and found the perfect new one (for now! 😉)
This year I am taking my self-care seriously- I'm tired of looking a mess and wondering who that old woman is looking back at me from the mirror! 😳😂 I have been preparing myself mentally over the past couple of months to make a change - I've realised that despite being very lucky during my life as I previously never needed to worry about my weight, wearing make up, doing excercise etc. I'm no longer of an age where I can rely on luck to look reasonable!
So, I have bought make up (have never worn it before), committed to a healthier lifestyle (given up alcohol and smoking), have started yoga and have a self-care plan including getting my nails done next week for the first time ever!
I bought some new clothing that actually fits me (a considerable weight gain over the past few years has meant that I had to buy stuff that isn't necessarily of my choosing but covers all the lumps and bumps 😉) and have a selection of 'aspirational' clothing in my wardrobe that I am determined to be able to wear within the next year 😁
One of the things I picked up from this thread previously was to wear perfume every day - I dabbled a couple of times and have to say that it really did help; it's surprising how such a small thing can make you feel so much better about yourself so that will definitely be on my 'everyday without exception' list!!
Happy new year to all contributers to this thread and thank you for setting it up @helensbiggestfan - I'm sure that it will help me remove the frump from my life! 😁

Hello Ladies,
Happy New Years Eve to you all.
Helen, thank you for setting up this new thread7 -
Just having a leisurely cup of coffee before I stagger to the supermarket to stock up for tomorrows festivities.......
Traffic Lights - just wanted to say well done you, you have made a great start to ditching the frump and becoming the Fabulous woman you were meant to be.
You are quite right it all starts with what's in our heads. Get our mindsets right and the rest follows (relatively) easily. Although of course nothing that is truly worthwhile comes easily, if we want results then we really must put in some effort."the only place where 'success' comes before 'work' is in the dictionary". Lol.And remember, sadly there is no such thing as "effortless chic".Ladies, please remember to enjoy the journey, take it in easy stages. No bull at a gate and then giving up because you don't see instant results, no daft diets or punishing exercise regimes, no injuries. It takes years to become a Frump so don't expect to see instant results, it will take time. However, I promise you..........
Stick with it, give it 6 months and your life will be transformed. In more ways than you can imagine. This thread is now over 10 years old and I am simply not the woman I was back then. My life is a 100 fold better now, and I'm not done yet.So start slowly and build on each stage. Remember the Compound Effect. The Power of Tiny Daily Habits, when practised consistently, will, over time, deliver almost miraculous results. To our newcomers.........Traffic Lights mentioned wearing perfume every day. That's where you start.
Each and every day make sure you smell divine. It doesn't have to be expensive perfume, a really nice soap or bath or shower gel will do the job too.One gentle reminder........
I would ask any newcomers to be kind and considerate towards your fellow posters. We become Frumps for all sorts of reasons, and by the time we realise we've become one we often feel fragile and at a low ebb. So I would ask all posters to be non judgemental and supportive of each other. So I leave you with this message......hope you all have a wonderful NYE and NYD however you chose to spend it. Relax and enjoy yourselves, we start in earnest next week. I'll be back on 2nd, raring to go.And, to those who just aren't in the mood to celebrate, who can't see the point in getting dressed up, or who can't even face their reflection in the mirror then take heart. Give yourself time and some TLC and this next time next year you will have said goodbye to the Frump and you will have revealed the Fabulous Goddess that has been hiding in plain sight all along. Here's to you, ladies. 🥂❤️💃10 -

Thanks for the new thread Helen 🙂
Whilst we've achieved at least one of our house-fabbing goals here at the old mill over the past twelve months, as a whole the year hasn't been great for us. Therefore we'll both be pleased to see the back of 2022 and are hoping 2023 will be somewhat brighter...
In the spirit of which I've put away the advent calendar on the kitchen island and replaced it with our sunny yellow Christmas gift vase (from the dogs 😉) 😁😍😆
I hope the New Year will be a sunny, healthy, happy and prosperous one for everyone posting on and/or reading this thread 🎆🤩🌞9 -
Hello Ladies,
Throughout 2022 I managed to make wise purchases that meant I saved a total of £7931.23.
2023 will no doubt be even more challenging financially for all of us, but if we have the time and patience, there will be bargains to be had.8 -
My brother is too ill to go out so I had to cancel another night out this year! I am going to be glad to see the back of this year in general. I've wasted so much money on concert tickets that I had to cancel because of train strikes or illness and not get money back from them. I had defuzzed, coloured my hair and done my nails for tonight and the only people to see me are my husband and the staff at Tesco! I just went there with my hubbie and dog and we all got totally soaked so at least I'm missing going out tonight in this awful rainy weather. I bought the essentials, wine and chocolate! I haven't seen anything worth watching on TV tonight so I might look at what is on Prime and Netflix.
I'm not going to say anything unrealistic like lose weight or give up alcohol in 2023 because I know I won't stick to it. I'm just going for goals I should be able to achieve.
1. Reduce visual clutter in my home.
2. We need to get our house redecorated as we are living with the previous owner's taste - preferably decorate my house in white or magnolia.
3. Save for next Xmas with £1 a day - I'm at £30 already!
4. Remind myself daily of the long term goal of early retirement.
5. We need to have far less takeaways! Cook more at home.
6. Drastically reduce my charity shop habit. Think about the 50 times rule. Will I wear this item 50 times? If not then don't buy it.
7. I want to hit my target of 70,000 steps a week.
(I was going for 10,000 steps a day this year, but I am just going to say overall during the week to hit 70K as some days I do less walking.)
I hope you all have a nice time tonight whatever you are doing.

Happy New Year everyone!! 🥳
Yesterday I did a weigh in, took measurements and photos then tried on one of my aspirational dresses and took photos in that too. Suffice to say that I wasn't impressed by the weight, measurements or photos but I was impressed that i could actually get into the dress even though it was straining at the seams! 😳 I would normally have been depressed by the amount of weight and the mountain of flab but this time I'm not - it's the worst its ever going to be and every day I will improve whether its immediately noticeable or not! 😉
Last night I had a hot shower, defurred, exfoliated, put on a hair treatment and did a face mask then went to bed to relax! It was lovely 😁
This morning I have done a yoga session, showered, washed out the hair treatment and put on perfume - I feel more fab already! I'm going out for a walk later and having a healthy lunch of courgette salad with tarragon and lemon oil plus some lemon caper lentils.
Dh returns home later so I'm going to spend the afternoon relaxing and reading 😁
Hope you all had a lovely New Year's eve 😊DNF: £708.92/£1000

Hello, can I join? This morning I put on perfume and jewellery, washed my hair in preparation for hennaing this evening. I need to remove my toe nail varnish too.Weight has been an issue for me thanks to a blind school nurse who thought my muscle from cycling was fat - stupid old woman, I think you know the type. Anyway the last 2 months since Covid I have not been walking as much and piled on the pounds so would like to get back to that.7
