What a lovely check in with you lot. I too use a SAD light. That helps along with some supplements.
@liberty_lily my hair was always thin but now, since menopause, it is very bad. Even the GP concurred and wanted to check bloods for ferritin so waiting for that to come back . Last night i was thinking about what I could do and experimented putting my hair up. I have found an old tiny childs donut used for ballet and found I could use that to make a bun (need to work out how to secure it properly as not enough hair to do that as intended) and also used a tool I bought years ago to pull hair through a loop.. Both ideas cover the part where my scalp is so visible at the back.so I will play around a little more and that will help until I can get to a wig store.
Any recommendations for hair spray? It just occurred to me me writing here that hair spray would probably help hold styles in place.
Showered and perfumed and moved to jeans rather than slouch wear and added a bright pink polo neck and ready for the day.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!6 -
Long Covid has very similar symptoms to fibromyalgia. I am vastly improved since I was diagnosed with fibro in 2017 (I was practically bedbound for 9 months back then) but I still get the fatigue some days. I just rest if I'm tired, but I still go for walks to get daylight and move my muscles. Re: feeling down in the winter months, I have to get out into the daylight every day even when I don't feel like it. Even sitting in the garden wrapped up warm will give you a vitamin D dose. I also supplement with vitamin D in the winter as you can't get enough from just daylight in the Northern hemisphere, unless you worked outside all day, I suppose which not many of us do.
I was worried we had another water leak (we have had two since we moved here in April!) as I found black mould at the bottom of our kitchen cupboard while I was tidying and decluttering the other day, but I just had the plumber around and he said it was just condensation. He said we need to have vents cut into the bottom panels on our kitchen units as there wasn't enough air circulating. I assume a handyman could do that type of thing? I said that there had been a dishwasher in the kitchen before which I got rid of and he said it hadn't been capped off properly by the previous owners so if we had kept it if we used it there would have been water pouring into the under sink cupboard! That was lucky that I didn't want to keep it!
We have booked the decorator to paint our house and booked my dog into the kennel for that week too so that will be done this month.
I was planning on meeting that couple from London this weekend but as usual there are more rail strikes so I couldn't. My brother is coming over tomorrow and we are staying in and watching a film and getting a takeaway and then Friday we are going out for a meal. We will probably watch Bad Boys for Life tomorrow as I have watched the previous two Bad Boys films the past two nights on Film 4.
I haven't had time to book a manicure so I will just do my nails myself.:)

Snap Wednesday, I've got our plumber coming on Friday. I realised it was smelling a bit musty under the sink. We have a water filter, don't like the water here, and it has a very slow leak. I bought a new seal and hoped that would fix it but it hasn't. I hope we don't need a new filter.7

Hello Ladies,
I went to see the musical Hex at the National Theatre this afternoon. It is absolutely captivating. The actors both male and female are so talented and have such beautiful tones to their voices. I got my ticket which was worth £36 (over 60's price) for only £6.50. For me this musical is a 10/10
I managed to buy 2 Elizabeth Arden Red Door gift sets from Boots online for £37.33 each with 100ml Red Door EDT, 75ml Body Powder and 100ml Body Lotion. Considering the 100ml Red Door EDT sells for £59, I did not hesitate. They were sold out by the next day, so it was a good job I snapped up 2 of them. I am all set for 2023, at a real MSE price.
I won £25 on my premium bonds today.8 -
@sugarbaby125 I used to love Red Door!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.675

Abba fan 1972, I have been hooked on Red Door for about 20 years now. I was working in childcare, when one of the parents gave me a Red Door gift set as my leaving present. As soon as I started wearing it, I knew I had found the right perfume for me. I love the fact that I can get the matching products so I can layer the perfume. I always get compliments about Red Door.8

Well done on the perfume bargains, Sugarbaby...and your premium bond win 😁
I went out for the first time since 23rd December today (unless you count walking the dogs in the countryside nearby). Even though it was only a quick trip to the local Co-op in drizzly weather, I made sure I was wearing my smart casual McVerdi balloon hem raincoat, new Ugg type boots and had make-up/perfume on 😊
We're being really good on the no spend front, having not even needed to buy much food - except a few veg, bread etc - since before Christmas. Today it was getting a few things for dinners (fish, meat etc) but we still have so many snacks we haven't had to buy any of those yet.
No online purchases either...although I have been 'shopping my home' again today, swapping a few decorative items and cushions about. Having a lovely place to sit either in the evening or during the day (when I can easily get distracted by the view!) is still such a novelty and is taking my mind off the horrors of January 😍7 -

Hello Ladies,
I went to the Ritzy cinema today to watch the period drama about Empress Elisabeth of Austria called Corsage followed minutes later by the family drama Aftersun.
I got a member silver screen ticket for corsage for £7, but I used £2 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers to buy a £6 Picturehouse voucher, so I only needed to pay £1 on my debit card.
I used one of my free members tickets to purchase my Aftersun ticket.
I enjoyed both of the films, but I was disappointed by Aftersun. It was a gentle family drama but it is not particularly memorable. For me this film was only a 7/10 and that is because the father and his teenage daughter were portrayed so well on the big screen.
For me, Corsage was a much better film, it was quite fascinating to see how the Empress operated and how the facade she presented to the world that she lived in, did not allow her to be truly 'seen'. For me this film was a 8.5/10.6 -
I'm going out with my brother to a local restaurant later for a late lunch. I did my nails. I need to remember to moisturise my hands more.
