Watty1 said:This is a big thing for me and I've not actually confessed me dependence on the pills to anyone but I have become very aware of it.6

Good news, my father-in-law has said he will give us half the cash for the roof bill. I was thinking as I have been estranged from my parents for 20 years and then my mother-in-law dying last year that he is the closest thing to a "parent" I have left. That will be a lot of financial pressure off us now, thankfully.2025 GOALS

Wednesday, that is great news. That really takes the financial pressure off you and your husband. It is sad that you are estranged from your parents, but families come in all shapes and sizes and at least you are close to your father-in-law.
Watty1 thank you for disclosing your dependence on that pill. I know you are determined to stop taking that pill, but it might be wise to let your doctor know. I hope that you are able to manage your life without that pill. I wish you well7 -
@Watty1 I have stopped reading on my kindle at bedtime as I was finding it messed with my sleep routine. I keep a "proper" book by my bedside for a 15m read every night and my sleep routine is so much better.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thank you for the lovely warm welcome and I look forward to following your journeys and sharing mine @Watty1 sounds as if you're you're very insightful and making good progress, do take care and be kind to yourself.. I've used lavender on my pillow and used to have 'night time tea' which in the end I only needed to have by the bed and I'd drop off. I listen to an evening meditation which I've done for many years.
I decided to take my painting clothes to be rags at the charity shop , i manged to take the t-shirt to pilates and was v embarrassed. can relegate some of my working from home things to gardening/painting. Baby steps Did go to pilates tonight.8 -
Welcome TC77. Well done Sugarbaby, you are achieving so much. I'm a bit stressed, 90 year old relative I'm sort of responsible for is very unwell and gone into hospital today. I should visit but it is 180 miles each way and I don't feel up to the drive at the moment, I'm feeling very guilty and will try to have a rest tonight and tomorrow and maybe go up Saturday. I get so tired since covid and I'm worried about driving when I'm not up to it, I might have to stay overnight. Her care home have very kindly said that I could stay there for the night if it helps. People are kind aren't they.8

Watty1 - I regularly use the balance app for meditation it is American, but I like it. I bought the premium version for a year and it only cost me just under £5, which ones do you use?Floss - I use a Kindle (proper book reader, not tablet). Do these still have the blue light thing that affects sleep? I like it as I can adjust the text and don’t need the light on, so I can read when hubby is asleep.Wednesday - we are estranged from my in-laws and the annoying thing is, they only live 1/2 mile away from us. We don’t really see them about, but I did see them in our local Asda in the midst of Covid when we all had masks and they didn’t notice me. Luckily we are close to my parents and they have helped us out a lot financially.I have to go back to the dentist next week to have done front fillers put in.At Slimming World (my lady weigh in was 22nd Dec), it was only a 2lb gain, so I was happy with that.Thank god it’s Friday!xxStriving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.677

Welcome Watty1. I too am a night time reader. 15/20 mins helps me sleep. I particularly like memoirs/autobiographies etc. This year my goal is to use all my body lotions, hand creams, perfumes daily. I am also using lip balms, this weather I find that my lips get very dry. I am also doing the £1 saving a day for Christmas. Enjoy your Friday everyone, it's really windy here and we are due snow Sunday night

I too have a kindle I bought from the bay of e over Christmas it’s for commuting really but handy at night when I don’t want to wake DH up.
A belated morning all, it really is lovely to read what we are up to. I have been feeling a bit lethargic this week and so I went for a really long walk and had an epiphany. When I feel like that it is my body telling me to get some exercise. Late to the game I know but there you are. I have exercised all of my adult life but stopped in Sept because of Covid, no more excuses time to start again.7 -
abbafan1972 I use the Simply Being app which is free and there are also some mediations on the Rituals App (it is an app for selling the rituals products but you can skip over that and go to the free stuff). I like both because they are free and i am the point where anything i can save is good.
Thank you all for your kind comments about the sleep and the pills. I've been reluctant to talk to my doctor as it is so hard to get an appointment and also because it means confessing I've been abusing the painkillers he gave me and mixing them with over the counter stuff.
I managed to sleep ok again last night so 4 nights down. I did buy a sleep spray that I read great results for and I will use that on my pillow. I like the oils it has and although I'm trying really hard not to spend money I think that was a worthwhile spend to see if it will help. It arrived today.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5
