Thanks TC77 and well done on finding a good pair of jeans in a charity shop that fit you really well. Your fabbing journey has begun.5

Yesterday was the perfect rainy sunday to lose myself in a romantic black and white movie even if the story line is tenuous. the ghost and mrs muir, watched this many moons ago and fell in love with the enchanting and beautiful Gull cottage, in a perfect craggy coastline setting. Filed my nails, a weekly job done on a sunday or monday.Just finished doing the weekly accounts, made a shopping list after checking my grocery master list and online special offers for this week. Don't need much, bin bags and mince, can wait till the end of the week when I will batch cook some chilli for the freezer. It's raining, don't wish to venture outside, temperature has dropped too. Will do some cleaning later on with Dh, he hoovers, whilst I clean the bathroom and kitchen, takes about 22 minutes, I've timed it.A small queue of outside jobs have been delayed due to trees not shedding their leaves until late december. We normally clean the gutters every year as we have a massive tree on the street right outside our house. It's too miserable to do it when it cold and wet.Have a lovely day everyone, cheers to the goddess in all of usGrocery challenge year budget €3K Jan €190 Feb €225 Mar €313 Apr €202 May €224 June €329 July €518 Aug €231Sep €389 Oct €314 Nov €358 Dec €335 Total spent €3628

Good morning ladies.Leisurely Morning for me, didn't sleep well so didn't wake till nearly 9.30. Have my chiro appt later. The good news is I've lost 2lbs this week. Wahoo. 💃 I'm back in the game.flossy......I love love love "The Ghost and MrsMuir". It's one of my all time favourites and I adore gull cottage. Was it on tv. So mad I missed it.Had another go with the vax on the carpets trying to speed up the drying process. Shoulder is killing me now, hopefully the chiro session will help reduce the pain. Carpets do seem much drier though so worth the effort.Did an Aldi shop yesterday, bought a few kitchen bits from the "Aisle of Dreams" 😂. Some ovenware and chopping boards. Oh and I'm restocking my wine rack. 🥂.TC - great stuff finding some new jeans in the chazza. I am aiming for a charity shop mooch one day this week. Havent mooched much recently, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.Right better get cracking. Have a great day y'all.Keep fabbing and stay stunning.5

@helensbiggestfan can you borrow a dehumidifier to help dry the carpets out?
Thanks to the idea on here for the habit tracker I filled in that part of my planner, kept it simple for this week and am tracking that I take my vitamins, do my night time routine (simple, apply moisturisers and pillow spray and put the electric blanket on) take my thyroxine and am alcohol free.
Today I am planning on cleaning the office. I work full time and the office is not fab! The cat's litter tray is in here, there is litter all over floor, the cat has to eat in here too to be safe from the dog, she also plays in here so there is a lot of shredded cardboard (she shreds cardboard) and then my work is just everywhere so a big office clear up planned. I'm going to find the gorgeous lemon candle from the bathroom and light that in there while I clean as a bit of fabbing.
My handbag is on the floor so I will add clearing that out too.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thank you for your kind words of support for DH, Purple Pixie and Sugarbaby 😊 Right now he needs all the reassurance he can get - especially after the non-paying rendering woman sent him an enigmatic yet threatening email on Saturday night hinting that she is considering court action against him! Words fail me....
So far he's ignored it, but is on the verge of seeing his GP for something to calm his nerves. The last thing we need right now is more blooming stress. I rarely mention this but in 2007 when similarly stressed he attempted to take his own life - something so scary I never want him (or me/DS) to experience ever again.
So much for a brighter start to 2023 🙄5 -
Meanwhile, trying to be positive the rain has finally stopped...for now at least and it's a lovely (if cold!), sunny day 😎
Have sold a few more bits so my walk-in cupboard is closer to being reclaimed, still not been tempted to buy anything house, beauty or clothes-wise so that's good!
Going to look for that Ghost and Mrs Muir film as I'd never heard of it and it sounds interesting 🙂5 -
Oh no, Liberty Lily! I would urge you to go with him to see his GP if he feels that stressed. I was telling my husband about what happened with the three non-paying people you mentioned and he was saying about your husband sueing them! Not the other way around. Did she pay a deposit he could return?5

Oh dear Lily. That's awful. Definitely seek help from his GP.Some clients are just the pits.......that's why I was so glad to retire. I was getting to really dislike the "general public" at one point. I found so many of my clients were so unreasonable, greedy and selfish. We all like a bargain but screwing builders and tradespeople into the ground is just plain vicious and nasty.Luckily I didn't have to chase my clients for money, I received my commission from the builders not the clients. But I know so many "trades" who have been ripped off. My favourite plumber and go to guy was stung for £14k, about 10 years ago now. A lot of money.Watty......I have a dehumidifier and yes it's helping, I think we're getting there. I popped into the letting agents for a progress report. The landlord has been informed (they live in Spain) and so far have been very amenable. I think they appreciate they've got a good tenant and that I'm doing all I can this end to save the carpets.Went to the chiropractor, feel a bit "pulled about" 🤣. So just going to take it easy.6

Thanks Wednesday and Helen 😊
She'd been making stage payments (and whilst sometimes a bit slow with these, they were always eventually paid) but when the most recent one was due she just stopped paying. When he queried this, she said it was because the job was taking longer than expected (which was due to the weather conditions - the render can't be applied if the temp drops below a certain amount or if it's pouring with rain/due to rain heavily after application). He'd worked every day that the conditions were favourable but obviously didn't want to apply the stuff only for it to crack or wash off! For example, it's a beautiful sunny day today, but due to drop to -3° tonight so too cold for rendering work.
He'd explained all this to her at the start...and that she'd actually be advised to wait till spring for such a job, but - because another builder had walked off site due to a disagreement with her (which says it all!), having got so far as stripping the old render - she understandably wanted to press on.
The stage payments were arranged by number of days worked rather than stages of the job reached, iyswim.
She had agreed to a price for labour and materials, the latter which he ordered/had delivered to her property but which she gave him the money for. She then began questioning how much these had cost - despite agreeing to the price at the start - and demanding to see receipts. Obviously (as with most building trades etc) DH was making a - very small, ie, a couple of hundred £££ on materials costing £5k - profit on these so wasn't going to comply with this!
If he goes to his GP - which is looking increasingly likely as he's feeling extremely anxious/can't sleep - I will definitely accompany him....thanks again lovely ladies 💐6 -
I am so sorry @liberty_lily Please do accompany him.
My relationship broke up when my ex had a breakdown. He never recovered, spent 2 years by his own admission being vile to me until I left and has spent the last 3 years refusing to settle. I will never underestimate mental health again.
