Hello Ladies,
I went to the Neighbourhood Voices sharing performances yesterday evening and I had a really good time. The free meal mostly consisted of different salads and some slices of cold Thai chicken breast slices. There were some focaccia small sandwiches and the only hot thing on offer were some small lobster and crab fishcakes. We all enjoyed the food. There were soft drinks or you could make your own tea or coffee to your personal preference. Everyone enjoyed the food and the desserts on offer were really delicious.
We all sat around catching up on each others news after the meal. We all wrote a message in the 3 Thank You cards for Ola, Kirk-Ann and Alisha. Unfortunately Kirk-Ann was too ill to join us. We all contributed to a large gift bag of full of pampering goodies and a bottle of Prosecco for the 3 of them. They were pleased with their thank you gifts.
Then at 7.30pm, the performances started. I was surprised to find that my duologue was the first to be produced on stage. They really made what I had written come to life. It was great to have my son and daughter see the performance and all of the other 15 performances.
It is a shame that the programme has come to an end, but I have learnt so much and I had so much fun on this playwriting journey.

Sorry I've been awol - I've had no internet access for the past week due to dropping my phone down the loo and waiting for it to dry out properly! 🤦♀️😂
I've been doing well with fabbing - perfume every day 😉 - and had my eyebrows done this week. I had nail extensions last week but had them removed this week as my grandbaby hated them and it slowed me down so much on cooking and building lego that they annoyed me! 😂 I have to admit that spending that much time in a salon was beyond tedious so it's not an experience that I would want to have again even if if the grandbaby hadn't hated them - lesson learnt!
Weight loss hasn't happened as we had a relative here for the first week of the year and ate out every day but I'm planning on having a good week this week with food so fingers crossed! Tomorrow I'm planning on exfoliating and doing a hair treatment and having a relaxing day in general 😁DNF: £708.92/£1000

Hello all! I'm popping back to say that you are all doing very well. Me not so much but baby steps.
2023 so far has been a bit rougher than I expected but I still have high hopes. First and foremost is focusing on health as I do feel that when you feel healthy, you feel fabulous. I have a few issues (namely some key vitamin/mineral deficiencies) and I realized a good week into the new year that with everything going on in the second half of December, I had not been taking my required vits. So the lethargic, run-down feeling wasn't because I had been so busy at the end of 2022. Restarted them and slowly I'm starting to feel better. But I know it will take a bit more time.
To this end, however, I have created a checklist for the year so that I can look back and confirm whether or not I've taken everything I need to. I've also added lots of other things to the list as well that I want to make sure I'm doing (e.g. drinking enough water, meditation, reading, daily language lesson, etc.).
Also, on the Decluttering challenge thread someone mentioned doing 23 minutes a day (because its 2023) and I decided to "borrow" that idea. I'm going to expand on it and do two sessions (20 minutes and 23 minutes) - setting a timer and all. There I'm using it for clean/maintenance for one session and declutter for the other. Want to incorporate the same idea for Frump-to-Fab. I might do 20 minutes of indoor exercise and 23 minutes of beauty. Still tbd.
Finally, I did manage to put on a facial mask and that was lovely. I am looking at purchasing a bunch online to treat myself - and keep my skin looking as fresh as possible.
Everyone - keep up the good work! You are all doing wonderful!Jan 2023 GC - $88.35/$150 (grocery budget-food only)

Hello, may I join in?I have a small wardrobe of clothes compared to most people which has worked fine in the past. I would normally buy a couple of items a year to replace worn out ones but this has proved difficult in the last few years.Since 2019, I've bought 1 jumper, 1 coat, and 4 pairs of socks. I wear trousers, top and jumper in the winter and skirts, top and cardi in the summer. My winter wardrobe consists of 4 trousers, 8 tops and 4 jumpers, which is normally fine. However 1 pair of trousers went into tumble dryer and shrunk and another pair can only be used for gardening which leaves 2. All my tops are now bobbly and well past their best, whilst my jumpers are getting thinner with each wash. My summer wardrobe of 6 skirts and a dress, 9 tops and 6 cardis are not faring much better.I'm going to see the winter out in what I have but summer is critical. I normally shop when on holiday but haven't done that since 2019.In all other personal care I'm good, don't wear makeup, I use nivea moisteriser, nivea body mousse, a clay mask occasionally and natural nails. I do spend on kerastase shampoo and conditioner which lasts a long time. Feel sad I won't be buying anymore chanel no5 perfume ever again, the last two I bought have no staying power and doesn't smell the same. I have an older bottle to compare with.I don't wear jewellery since developing nickel allergy in 2003, only wore earrings anyway.Grocery challenge year budget €3K Jan €190 Feb €225 Mar €313 Apr €202 May €224 June €329 July €518 Aug €231Sep €389 Oct €314 Nov €358 Dec €335 Total spent €3628

@flossyblog I did a wardrobe declutter a few years ago and was really ruthless (I had help from a stylist - I was fab back then!) and a smaller wardrobe where everything is worn is a joy so you have a lot of fun ahead. A couple of things that helped me back when I was fab was looking on insta at the minimalist wardrobe threads. Some of them charity shop too and it was really inspiring. I'm hoping to get back to that later in the year when I am up to it.
For now, sleep and regaining health is key. Taking vitamins and tracking that is a good idea. My organiser has a habit tracker (I've used the same one for months and not noticed that bit LOL) so I'll add that as I can do that easily. And also I could track my meds (I take thyroxine). Thanks for that. It is a small step to feeling fab I can incorporate.
Will also track wine. I'm trying not to drink but last night went out with the boyfriend and had 2 large glasses, it upset my sleep and whilst I enjoyed the temporary relaxation I was too tired to even cope properly with the horses when I got home. I know I'm drinking because of ex stress and that is not healthy or fab so I'm not going to set myself up for failure by saying I wont drink, rather I'm going to simply track alcohol free days.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -

Good Morning lovely ladies.I'm sorry but I'm not going to comment individually but suffice it say I have read all your posts and it's lovely to see everyone sharing. And of course welcome to all our new ladies.I have had a very difficult week - leak in the bathroom led to saturated carpets in the hall and an adjoining bedroom. Not my idea of fun, anyway wont dwell on it, repairs are in hand and just trying to dry out the carpets now. Couldn't have happened at a worst time. Have family coming to stay next week whilst they have house renovations done. Just hope the carpets are dry enough by then.Under the circumstances fabbing has been on the back boiler a bit, but pleased to say I have managed to stay on track with WW so hopefully I should start losing those extra pounds soon. The big fabbing moment for me was a consultation with a chiro. Went back for the follow up on Friday and as expected the X-rays and photos did show that my skeletal frame is actually quite out of alignment, I had guessed as much. It explains a lot. So the treatment plans begins......manual adjustments twice a week for 6 weeks and then reassess. She advised no pilates, yoga etc just yet, and certainly no resistance training. Just walking. She advised me to take it slowly and not overload my body until we see how the treatments work. I actually had the first session on Friday and immediately felt some improvement . So 🤞
I too have been remiss with the vitamins, so back on them now, I mentioned my tiredness to the chiro and she said well that's not surprising because quite apart from all the work you've been doing vis a vi house renovations, moving house etc if your skeletal frame is not aligned correctly then your body is having to work so much harder. That makes sense. It's just going to take time and I'm going to have to be patient,
I agree with all those who have mentioned their intention to improve their health and fitness. It's a crucial part of being fab isn't it, especially as we get older. When we are young we tend to take our body for granted, it gives us limitless energy. The weight gain, aches and pains, tiredness and general lack of energy and enthusiasm creeps up on us gradually. And then one day we look in the mirror, or catch our reflection in a shop window or we see a photo of ourselves and we realise with horror that we have allowed ourselves to become a FRUMP. It's so easily done.....we are often so busy looking after everyone that we forget to look after ourselves.I was reading something by a doctor who is an expert on ageing. He talks about "Youths Bounty" and likens it to swimming in the sea.
Up until about the age of 30 we have the tide behind us, (our youth) so we just blithely coast along riding the waves, then slowly the tide turns against us (the ageing process starts to crank up) and we are actually swimming against the waves. The changes are slow and barely noticeable at first but they are nonetheless relentless and gradually the tide strengthens and the waves get bigger and swimming becomes more difficult, so we have to work so much harder.Anyway.........we are all in this together and if we cannot turn the tide then we can at least make ourselves stronger, fitter and healthier. We may never again have the faces and bodies of our former 30 year old selves but we can look and feel fabulous, well into our 80s and beyond. We can still dress well and take care of ourselves.Does anyone watch you tube style videos, I've been watching some aimed at over 50s. Lots of useful tips and ideas. It's lovely to see the nights drawing out again, it was nearly 5pm last night before it got properly dark. A sure sign spring is on its way. 😁6 -
Hello Ladies,
Helen, sorry to hear that you have experienced such a challenging week.
I went to a house party yesterday and even though my arthritis was playing up, I had a really fun time. I had to do some of my dancing sitting down, but after taking some painkillers, I could really dance. I layered my perfume with the matching body lotion, body powder and shower gel. I wore my new No7 brown/black mascara, clear nail polish on my finger nails and gold nail polish on my toe nails. I only put clear lip gloss on when I arrived at the party.
I had some lovely Caribbean food to eat at the party with a bottle of water.

@sugarbaby125 love the dress, sounds a lovely time.
As I can't get in 95% of my clothes and its depressing wearing trackies and my one smart trousers velvety are going bald so bought some lovely jeans in a CS that fit me and look nice so hoping that making me feel better will help with eating healthier and help my self esteem. I will try and keep up with posts. Trying to do my physio appts too. managed a swim today and a walk with a friend, and wore my new jeans and newish jumper so made an effort!
Hope everyone has a good week.6
