  • Hi all,

@coxy the trip sounds amazing, I'm trying to convince my OH for a weekend away to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Evert time I read about someone's trip I just get more indecisive about where I want to go.

Sorry about the whinge the other day, I know I've done well, I just find the slowing down difficult to manage despite always knowing it would happen.

    Meal plan today

B: "carrot cake" baked oats this was so good 2.5 syns

L: needs to be a quick lunch today naked noodles, fruit to make up lack of speed 1.5 syns

D: Beef casserole, new pots, carrots, swede, cabbage, 1 syn for thickener.

Did better at WI than my own scales showed!!!  I lost a whopping 1.5lb!  I'm now just lb over my actual target weight so would like to get that before we go on holiday to give me a bit of leeway!

This Friday is my birthday and I bought steak to have for dinner and DH decided to inform me when I got home that he was taking me to the Indian for my birthday meal!  Steaks have ended up in the freezer!  At least with eating out we won't end up drinking a lot as DH will be driving.  No doubt we'll crack a bottle at home afterwards!

The following weekend is Easter and we're away for that weekend and the following weekend we go on holiday for 2 weeks.  Back for a few days then off to Scotland to see my sister!

Think it's going to be very difficult to be anywhere near target after that lot, LOL!

    Food today:

    B - omlette - P; had a Skinny Crunch bar whilst at group - 0.5 HEB
    L - carrot and lentil soup; slice of bread - P; S; F; 0.5 HEB
    D - Half avocado & prawns + Burger, chips, beans - P; F; 12

    HEA - milk
HEB - Skinny Crunch bar/slice of bread
Syns - Skinny whip mini chocolate and hazelnut 1.5; avocado 5; burger 0.5; chips 6.5

Will have fruit and yoghurt this evening as usual.

Had to change dinner which was going to be HB braised steak and onions with extra veg but left it a bit late to get started so we'll have that tomorrow!

    That's amazing @joedenise! Well done on your 1.5lbs. 👏👏👏

If I were you I'd enjoy your birthday dinner and not worry about going to WI next week. The 8 weeks will see you through your holiday and visiting your sister and then you can crack on with the plan. 🤔

I've got a simplest of microwaves too @Jellybaby and I'm really happy with it . I'd welcome trying an air fryer @Abbafan1972. You've nothing to lose by trying your mum's. If you can't get on with it then you can buy a different model. I've got very few gadgets other than an ancient slow cooker. It's so scruffy I'm ashamed of it but it works so I'm reluctant to buy another just yet.

I've been back on plan since Saturday and used 54 syns. Pleased with that. New full week starts tomorrow so hoping to see off any gains from my couple of synful weeks around my birthday and holiday. 😁

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB toast, scrambled eggs (P), HEA milk for drinks
    L- JP (F), cottage cheese (P), salad (P)
    D- veggie chilli (P, S), brown rice (F)
    Syns - 0

Meant to ask @annabanana82, what sort of trip are you thinking of? We've done loads of short breaks in this country and all over Europe. I could bore you with ideas! 🤣

Just a short weekend 3 nights max, I'd rather go abroad as it feels more of a holiday. My OH hates flying, so would struggle to realistically get more than a 90 minute flight, I might be able to push it a little.

Having older school age children we might feel a bit bad about not taking them, so had thought it has to be something they aren't disappointed to be left home.

I'd thought perhaps Amsterdam, we like history, museums quite fancy a cycle, happy with plenty of walking. We like the Theatre, we did a fancy weekend in London last year. We had thought about Trieste to watch Phantom as its on that weekend but no flights.

We've been to Berlin and Bruges both of which we really enjoyed

DH and I loved Amsterdam when we did a short break there.  Would love to go again some time but there are so many other places we want to visit think it may well be somewhere we don't actually go back to.  We used the trams to get around when we were there as well as plenty of walking.

Getting older too so not sure how many more years we'll be going abroad for!  Insurance is getting really expensive now we're both over 70!  Just paid over £150 for our September holiday as our annual insurance runs out at the end of August!  Will look again for an annual policy around November probably.

I loved Amsterdam too. Just before Covid, we went to Holland a second time but stayed in Leiden to learn about the Mayflower. Did a day trip into Amsterdam as I wanted to visit Rijkmuseum again as it's been refurbished. Not disappointed, as the building is as beautiful as the artwork. Also love the canal houses with the varied roofs. 😊

Otherwise I'd recommend Italy. Florence and Venice are great but I enjoyed Verona, allegedly the home of Romeo and Juliet so perfect for a romantic anniversary celebration @annabanana82 . 😍 Or Paris? 🤔
