    Thanks,

I said this about fluids but Dad has been drinking well, but having a catheter continuously does not help,  but good news is he is 100% better today, chatting and laughing , they started the IV last night and working really well, Mum rang this morning and they said he was really good, slept well , ate all his breakfast.

He has had 1 to 1 care for last 24hrs and still has , he ate all his lunch, all his snacks from last couple of days what he wouldn't eat, all his tea and the snacks mum took in today 👏👏

Mum asked him if he could remember what he was like/said yesterday and he said no

That's much better news about your DDad @bubbs - so pleased to hear it x

I have had a sore throat since Saturday and it's really annoying! I took pup out yesterday and realised the blossom is coming out on the cherry trees so I'm wondering if it's the start of my hay fever, so I've taken an antihistamine tablet today. I am WFH but will need to record any strike absences and dock pay/pension - feel like such a snitch but thems the rules.

    Food today will be:
    B - 2 WM toast, jam, 2 satsumas, 2 plums - HEB, 1, S
    L - LO beef/Quorn bolognaise, pasta - free
    D - SW sticky pork stir fry (Take 5 book) - 1
    HEA - milk
    HEA - babybel
Syns - skinny bar 3 plus 2, so 5 total

Morning all, the weather looks much nicer this morning than it did yesterday which I'm glad about.  Hate driving in heavy rain.

Pleased to hear the great improvement in your dad @bubbs.  How long will he have the 1 to 1 care?  Really seems to have helped.

WI for me in a couple of hours.  Wonder if doing the food diary will have done the usual trick!   Not sure this was the best week to do it as not typical with much high synned meals due to the Gousto boxes.  The haddock meal last night was OK but again a bit of a faff so probably wouldn't do it again and if I do I wouldn't be using as much creamed coconut!  Would probably use some canned coconut milk and a bit less stock.

    Today's plan:

    B - mushroom omelette - S; P
    L - toasted cheese sandwich - HEA2; HEB
    D - corned beef hash - P; S; F; 5

    HEa1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    Syns - corned beef 4; horseradish 1

Back later after WI with hopefully recording a loss!

    Have a good day.

I've often wondered about those Gousto meals and similar @joedenise - don't think I'll bother unless a really good offer like you received!
    Good luck for WI!!

Good to hear your dad is better @bubbs

    Good luck for WI @joedenise

Another WFH day for me. Waiting (impatiently) for DS1 to give me his flight details for next month as I think I'll need to book an extra day's leave so I can pick him up.

    Today's food:
B - bran flakes (HEB), ML Greek yoghurt (0.5 syns), strawberries
L - l/over chicken, mango salsa (might have baked potato with it if I'm hungry)
D - lasagne (3.5 syns and HEA), tender stem broccoli, cauliflower

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Morning all,
Good luck for WI @joedenise and glad your Dad is better @bubbs.

    Meal plan for today:

B: Raspberries, Strawberries, blueberries, FF greek yoghurt 1 skinny crunch 1/2 hexb

L: undecided, possibly an omelette, but with Son and OH home today I'm loathe to cook myself anything as it'll be cooking for 3 and my lunch break gone

D: Aldi skinny sausages, mash potato, swede, roast carrots and onion gravy. 1 syn for 2 sausages. Gravy I've worked out how to make syn free and it's so much nicer than bisto.

Will add some snacks in for additional syns throughout the day

I agree @Coxy11 that Gusto etc only seem to be VFM when on a really good offer. @joedenise is definitely not selling them well! 🤣

Are you planning to go to WI this Saturday?  What changes do you think you've made to a usual week (other than the oven chips)?

I'd be interested to know how you make your syn free gravy @Jellybaby.🤔 When we have gravy midweek for sausages and the like I generally have some frozen to use up. That's from my beef in 'red wine' recipe or the HB steaks where I make a recipe for 4 with meat for 2. It's only a maximum of 1 syn for the whole recipe for 4 so I count it as free. But I'd like a syn free recipe for when I don't have any ready made. I'm not a huge fan of the gravy granules either.

I'm out to eat tonight. It's a country pub we use regularly and there's usually something fairly SW friendly on the menu. Shame about the wine! 🤣

So far I've had a cooked breakfast (bacon, egg, beans) and planning a JP with cottage cheese for lunch. Back on it properly tomorrow until we go away next Tuesday. 😊

It was @annabanana82 that made the gravy @maman But when I have a roast😁 I remove the fat once it's set and use what liquid is left adding water.  If it's still too fatty, I only use a tablespoon or so of it. To the liquid mixture I add onions and bovril cubes and cook slowly for quite a while.  I don't syn as divide between two and usually get another two or three meals from it.
