Morning all,
Really sorry about your Dad @bubbs the health care system seems such a lottery now.
My OH has just been told he's borderline diabetic so big changes on his menu, main meal he eats the same as me but he has a sugared coffee addiction so no more coffee for him. He did suggest coming to SW but I gave him evils until he changed his mind 🤣
Meal plan:
B: Blueberry baked oats 1 syn
L: ham and mushroom omelette freecottage pie and cabbage (if I can get one) couple of syns for gravy
Hope you all have a good day

@annabanana82 - perhaps you can get your DH to follow SW at home with you as his "consultant"! Could he not just change to sweetener instead of sugar in his coffee? It's what most people do! Personally I prefer my coffee as it comes - black but not too strong which is why we invested in a bean to cup coffee machine so we can get it just how we like it! Took a while to find the right beans but now we have we just shop around for them online and buy 6 Kgs at a time which lasts us between 4 and 6 months. Unfortunately the ones we like we can't buy in the shops so need to buy in bulk!
Do you have any other syns besides the 1 in your baked oats? You should aim to have at least 5 a day as part of the plan.0 -
His diagnosis should be a good motivation for your DH losing weight @annabanana82 and he only needs to look at you to see that SW works! 👍🏼
Sugar is 1 syn per level tsp. If that's his favourite treat then he could use his syns and have it on SW but not sure it's a good idea for diabetes. 🤔 @bubbs knows about diabetes so I'm sure she'll advise. Personally I can think of heaps of treats I'd prefer to use some syns on than sugary coffee! 🤣
It's great when you can please yourself @Jellybaby. DH and I have found a way of working that suits us by having the same dinner, similar breakfasts (both SW friendly) and then doing our own thing most lunchtimes. That's when he has his cakes, sandwiches, crisps etc! I do enjoy it when DH is out in the evening though and I can indulge in egg and chips! 😋
So glad you've got your bed/bedroom all done at last @joedenise and enjoyed a good night's sleep. Shame the scales aren't responding yet but 🤞🏼 for tomorrow.
I enjoyed my hash yesterday so had the same for lunch today but with slightly different range of veg bits.
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB porridge, HEA1 milk, berries (S), banana (F)
L- ham (P), hash (F,S), beetroot and cornichons (S)
d- Tom Kerridge bacon and broccoli pasta (P,F,S), HEA2 Parmesan
Syns- 01 -
Thanks @maman and @joedenise he did actually go out earlier and stopped in a cafe for a cup of coffee with no sugar. He's very much all or nothing. When he had his heart attack a few years back the cigarettes went, and so did anything higher than green on saturated fat. His weight gain is purely down to the increase in sugar - he has essentially just replaced fat with sugar. I'm hoping he comes to the conclusion that it's a balanced diet rather than extremes, but I'll give him a few days to process it.
Meal plan has all changed for today, son requested soup as he's just had his brace fitted so as we've got a busy night it's tomato soup, some cheese hex a.

Evening everyone. Not been on for a couple of days as I have been working in the office (auditors in this week). Office is in Birmingham city centre. I don’t mind the going into the office but, but it’s just the stuff you have to carry with you. @Coxy11 where does your OH work in Birmingham, just curious. Private message it to me if you don’t want to put it on here. Luckily I can WFH for the rest of the week.Today food wise has been a bit of a write off to be honest. I’ve eaten all sorts of crap today as there’s been lots of treats and freebies about at the office. Even my work colleague who attends an SW group brought in donuts (go figure that one out, lol!).@bubbs so sorry to hear about your Dad, it must be awful for you and your Mom.

How can so many have UTI’s @bubbs. Are they not being given enough fluids? Just awful 😞Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0 -
