Oh how I wish I could quilt - or thread and use a sewing machine adequately for that matter. One day when I'm retired I'm going to sewing lessons!!

Lovely updates @Charly27 and @nmm xx

No further crafting from me but am being inundated with emails from craft shops - must resist as my stash is quite large enough thank you!

    Love crafts keep emailing me.......

I have had sewing machines, and I always have Grand plans, and then discover I am hopeless with them. My sister is better, but is time poor.

My Grandma was a fantastic knitter, mum can knit and crochet (Blankets rather than toys and clothes) and she quilts beautifully. My sister is brilliant at macrame (which is totally beyond me!) And I am the one which does cross stitch.

My daughter is a photographer and artist. She is studying at a prestigious art uni in London, we have always been amazed at her artistic streak, but hubby's grandma painted (a good amateur, probably good enough to have studied if she had been born in a different era) and hubby paints mini war figures, and then I think, well art comes out in so many different ways. My niece is fantastic at drawing and painting.

I am happy with cross stitching atm, but would like to try different things.

  • Hi newbie would like to join in.  I have cross stitched for years . and I have just found a cross-stitch I did about 7 or 8 years ago but have the backstitch to do. I left that to the end and it was a big mistake. I am also starting 2 baby samplers as we got two new babies this month.
This is my unfinished piece it's called a dictionary of gardens and hope to finish it this year

Another one here who would like to follow along.  I've just started knitting again, but I'd like to sew a bit more too.  I've made the odd basic thing in the past.  My machine isn't the greatest, but I feel that I need to be more motivated to make things before I invest in a new one.  Will be good to follow along and hear about other people's makes.

Welcome Madquilter and Sandyshores. So nice you’ve joined.

I love the Bothy threads designs Madquilter but I'm with you on the Backstitch, it makes the design but it is the worst! I fell about laughing when Nmm called it BABS! I also have a strong aversion to French knots.  :D

Sally, at Caterpillar cross stitch has just produced a YT video on those, must take a look as her video tutorials are quite good.

Sandy as Nmm said we can help with motivation. It’s amazing how inspired I get just by seeing someone else progress.

I’ve unsubscribed from lots of emails so I’m not tempted.

BABS=Bl**dy Awful Back Stitch :D its the annoying sort that i hate commonly found on Margaret Sherry designs where it doesn't go in the holes but splits the fabric.

Latest Seascape update, i've been good and tried not to get sidetracked with other projects as i really want this one finished.

BABs, love it, I also hate back stitch, and as I have said previously my French Knots are shocking!

    That seascape is gorgeous.

  • Hello, please May I join? This sounds like a lovely group.  I did crossstitch to help me relax when I was doing my exams 15 years ago. Stopped and this year am hoping to restart. I’ve got a few kits I’ve started in the past that I would like to finish.
