Still plugging away, another kitty has appeared, onto quite a lot of white now which is a struggle to do as white on white doesn't seem to make a difference until you get the white surrounded by other colours.

    Hugs to all

Lovely updates Daisy and Coxy.  I can relate to the stitching white on white, I find it really hard.
Coxy I hope SIL is stable. That must have been a worry. You’ve got a lot going on waiting for your VR.
DaL I have also bought a SAL, see picture below - never stitched anything 3D before. But the great news is I’m taking early retirement and reducing my hours to 0.4 after a short break in service. More me time, very lucky lady. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

    Wow, that looks interesting charley.

I feel down a YouTube wormhole watching various stitching channels. Found one I really liked, have picked up some fab tips, realised its not common to stitch in hand (I can't really get on with hoops and because I use the sewing method frames just wouldn't work for me) found some great new sites to buy from and discovered some fantastic patterns.

I can admire the various fantasy type projects, and whst I call 'twee' ones, but they don't interest me to stitch, but full coverage art type ones and geometric patterns, I really like. Have bought one to try, will be a while before I can get to it though.

I have also spent some time doing a small sampler that I got free in a magazine. I
Amazing how time consuming the small projects can be. Need to finish all the back stitching, and the dreaded French Knots and then I will probably give it to my daughter for her uni notice board. Will post a pic when it is finished.

    Hi all,

Thanks for asking about SIL. Haven’t seen her since ‘the intervention’ but FIL/MIL are taking her to her appointments each week. She’s put on ‘a stone’ there or thereabouts, but still no counselling set up, just a general health check each week. Just so slow. Our relationship with BIL and her is damaged – he actually said to me ‘no hard feelings’ but has said to DH that he thinks we are all over-reacting still. I’ve been texting her once a week with a breezy ‘how are things, how are the appointments going’ and she replies, but never instigates or elaborates.

No crafting for me this weekend as we stayed at my BFFs house and went to a soul and funk night – much dancing and drinking and very creaky yesterday lol!

I have just signed up for the Cotton and Twine Advent alerts and have booked a day off to go to Ally Pally for the Knit and Stitch show. Still no VR news….

Very jealous of reduction to 0.4 and the short break in service @Charly27 – that won’t be me for a good while yet – need to do the lottery or something!

    White on white @daisy_1571 aaaarghhh!

    Hope everyone is doing okay

    Coxy xx

Lovely to hear that SiL is making progress Coxy. It doesn’t sound as though you can do anymore than keeping the door open and being there if needed.
I’m making progress with the sampler, no news yet, baby due any day now. Not stitched since Friday when got bitten on my right hand (my dominant)  by an insect. Dosed up with anti histamines at the moment and is finally beginning to go down.
I am very lucky to be able to contemplate a reduction in hours. A benefit of being a teacher since 1986 means that most of my service is prior to changes in the scheme in 2017. We’ll see how we manage on two days a week.

    Morning all,

Sorry to hear of your insect bite @Charly27 - so annoying and itchy/painful. I have a tiny one on my foot but luckily it hasn't turned into elephantitis. Are you new hours from September?

Nothing of note to report on the crafting front but I did visit Kensington Palace with DDad and DSis and Mum on Friday where they are hosting a couture exhibition. Many garments worn at the Met Gala curated alongside 16th century Court wear. Very interesting.

I have taken my sewing machine to the local shop to be looked at as the bobbin casing fell apart recently. I received it as a wedding present 26 years ago and have never had it serviced (the shame....). Engineer says the grease and oil needs flushing out and a general clean up. He will also replace the bulb with an LED one (original one still works but not great). Going to cost around £150 but worth it as I'd like to use it and have plans to attend a 1:1 sewing machine driving licence session with a local lady once I get it back :)

Found a 12" embroidery hoop in a charity shop for £1.25 last weekend - I don't have that size so it will come in handy.

I'm also researching a cardigan or jumper crochet pattern to make using granny squares as finally this seems to be the fashion and a bit trendy. I know this as several fashion students were wearing them at KP on Friday!

    Hope everyone is doing okay.

Insect bite healing nicely now Coxy. Either that or the antihistamines knocked me for six until Tuesday! Picked up the sampler again, but still no baby! This one not in a hurry.
My last day FT is 31st August & I have to have at least a day’s break in service. My PT contract will start week beginning 4th September and my normal working days will be Thursday and Friday to suit needs of the business. Bit apprehensive about how everything will work out with cost of living increasing but I’m sure it will be fine.
Visit to KP sounds really interesting. I like the sound of the granny square cardigan more than the cost of the repairs but still worth it as I dread to think what a new one cost. Update for sampler below. I’m pulling out grid lines as I go. Hope everyone else is chugging along quietly.

Hello ladies, so sorry for being MIA computer problems, i bet you all thought i had sailed off into the sunset haha. I have just caught up with all your progress and news, too much to comment on but the projects are all amazing.

Honestly not much stitching or crochet here the past few months but will sort photos out of what i have done. A lady at my K&N group is making a granny square jumper, some of the other ladies are making granny square bags. Will update more tomorrow :)
