Hi all.
I am off to Dublin for the weekend, to see old friends from uni. After being so poorly last week, I have had a reasonably good week. Been in the office 3 days its good to be around people and the views from the office are incredible, we are on the 7th floor in central London.
Grateful for: the walk across London bridge (never fails me), spending great time with colleagues, feeling better.3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000
Stocks and shares ISA: £1497

Morning turtlesForgot to post yesterday, had my doctor's appointment first thing to get this lump in my back looked at, they've agreed to do an ultrasound, so just waiting for the appointment letter. Walked down there which was a good 30 minutes, then walked to the closest train station to go to work.Busy day at work, a few things cropped up unexpectedly, and some frustrations came to a head but it was resolved satisfactorily (hopefully!).I decided to finish early as I'm owed about 12 hours of TOIL, was home by 4.30 so I snuggled up under the sofa with my book for an hour.
Went to pilates class (have decided to do this roughly every fortnight alongside using my app at home in between). Was freezing last night before bed for some reason and am still freezing this morning even though the house isn't cold! Not sure if I'm coming down with something.Woke up at 5am for some reason this morning, couldn't get back to sleep so have got up and currently sitting with a coffee on the sofa. Was meant to cycle to work but not feeling it in this weather so I might work out at home beforehand. I haven't cycled since this cold snap started, kudos to all those hard-core cyclists still getting out and about!Happy Friday Turtles!NSD's - 15Healthy food days - 16Workouts this week - 210 -
Yesterday I requested a withdrawal from my stocks and shares ISA which has £240 pounds in it. I don’t have a clue what I’m doing when it comes to stocks/shares. But I just stuck £260 in one over a year ago when I was feeling a bit flush to see what happened… losing £20 is what happened 🤣 I know these kinds of investments are supposed to be long term but I’m too impatient and I’ve decided £240 would be better going to a mortgage OP at this stage. Could’ve been £260 and a year’s worth of interest saved. Oh well. I’ll just stick to what I know.Yesterday I was grateful for a sunny lunchtime walk with gf, for getting work tasks done, and for OH making dinner.

Morning hope everybody is ready for Friday. I just submitted my pre retirement part time PhD proposal! I am very happy with it, so even if I don't get it it can move me forward. Unfortunately this means I've been a bit of a bad teacher so I now have well overdue marking to do. But ... That can be done.
Sorry I'm behind on reading but the good bit about spending every free minute reading is that it is hard to have time to spend money. So a good amount of nsd days. Happy days.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning turtles,
Nothing much to report from me. Yesterday wasn’t an NSD as got groceries & fuel. Went into office and caught up a bit. Visited my Nan as it’s her birthday then picked our shopping up. Noticing a few more treats are making there way into our weekly shop so need to reduce that.Had an easy tea then went through spellings with ds.Thanks for whoever mentioned crackers & cheese & grapes for packed lunch that’s just inspired me for mine today!Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Morning turtles
I got paid early which was a nice surprise. Bank looks nice and healthy. Need to make sure I know where every penny goes of this bonus. No frittering 😂
Paid for my dental work which in total was €240. Was grumpy and tired after the fillings so spent the evening napping on the sofa. Our gas had been turned off while something was being fixed so we ate sandwiches for dinner (only later did we realise we could have used the pressure cooker)
Feel much better this morning after a good night’s sleep. Bf and I went for a breakfast out as he didn’t have classes this morning and we still had no gas. So small spend - €5 for the both of us for grilled croissant, pan con tomate and 2 coffees.Looking forward to a relaxed weekend of doing not much. May go for a hike tomorrow. Will sort budgets tomorrow

Holocaust Remembrance Day (I was going to go to the ceremony in the Town Hall - now the archives and museum - but you had to book and wasn't sure if I'd be well enough to go, may potter across to see if they're thin on the ground).

something to do
something to look forward to

Fire will always

Burning in your soul.
Rain will always stop
Unless it pours

It never rains but it pours! Got a phone call from the Boy to say that his aunt on his father's side had had a stroke and was in hospital apparently refusing to engage with the staff and refusing treatment. It's a long story but her second husband is a total numpty and a liar. So much so that after one episode when he left her (couldn't cope with her being ill apparently) she asked the Boy to take power of attorney over her affairs. So the poor lad is having to talk to doctors, social work, etc. and deal with her as well. As if he didn't have enough to cope with with me.
And speaking of me. Pre-op assessment next Thursday and MRI following Tuesday. This hospital doesn't hang about!. Had a wee bit of a wobble last night and spent most of the night reading because I couldn't sleep. Might have a wee nap later.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
It is fab you are getting to be assessed so quickly @Toni'sfriend , everything crossed for you.Your DS sounds lovely to have done that for his aunt, and thank goodness she had him to turn to. Haven't you done well with him! All wobbles are perfectly understandable. ((Hugs))4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
