@lcc86 - is the TENS machine still in warranty? - it's less than 6 months old, so should be replaceable for free, I would have thought?
Today I am thankful for heated seats in my car, for a good chat with a colleague at work, for being able to give someone some timeline pointers re possible bc based on my experience last year, for cups of tea and chocolateI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £2010 -
ooff I’m tired today 🥱
Good work day, also tydied ds drawers and found a home for a few more things to go away. Lots of barely worn pjs in the charity bag. 4 items taken to the food bank.
Took ds for his hair cut his barber has moved premises near to a chip shop. We could smell the chips (so good) DS said he was hungry and we were short of time before his footy training so I bought him a cone of chips. He really enjoyed them and I think this may become a regular thing after hair cuts!
I’ve eaten healthy today & no alcohol. I’ve written a food plan for next week and ordered the food shopping for a click & collect tomorrow. It’s been a proper dreary dull rainy day here today hope it stops raining soon!Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. apple_muncher said:Beanie, nsd 11 is impressive! Was that by choice? Or because you've been waiting for your PIP money?
Nearly there now though

Sorry to hear things have been so tight, beanie. Hugs x.Today I am grateful for my waterproof, for getting 14 cards for £3 from the factory of cards, for finding a skipping rope in the ch shop, for all the bulbs starting to poke through (though I'm not sure I'm supposed to have snowdrops and croci and hyacinths and daffs all at the same time...🤣), for lots of fruit and veg.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!10

After reading Martin’s email this morning , I had a peek at our energy bills. Last month’s bill was more than £100 extra than usual! A mix of us being at home more in December and Aussie cousin staying with us. I had been considering asking for a refund from our energy company because we had around 2.5 months worth of payments sitting in the account but I’m so very glad I didn’t! And that’s thanks again to Mr Lewis who advised on his show to leave around 2 months in your account. After dropping DS at school, I returned books to the library and borrowed two more - recipe books. I had a very quick flick through them and made my choices based on the pictures 😂Nipped into TezCo for a top up shop where I bought an extra can of food and dropped it into the foodbank trolley. This is my new tactic to make sure I donate regularly… to buy one extra item every time I do a top up shop.Ticked a few priority tasks off at work and had the joy of finishing a notepad and getting to open/start a new one - I love a new jotter - the feeling started when I was at school! New jotter, new stationary… what a feeling!Dropped off a bag of things to the CS and decided to have a browse. I bought a lovely cream jumper for £3.60… googled it when I got home and they cost around £100 new!Grateful today for a charity shop bargain, for libraries, and for OH making dinner… and enough for tomorrow’s lunch.

11/1 and still 6 NSDs.
@beanielou- i was very impressed with your no spends, but sorry to hear it was by necessity not choice- hopefully you will be able to break the streak soon.
No painting done, it was cold outside but stayed dry so got some bits done.
Had a health care appointment this afternoon- painful at the time but worth the pain and the cost as I always feel better after it. So money spent but planned and beneficial.
I have a smart meter, the display has never worked, but it has always sent the info to the energy company, however my bill last month and yesterday has estimated readings- anyone got any idea why? Or do I have to attempt to contact the company? Last time I tried that I gave up which is why the monitor never got sorted to work fully!

What a day! Didn't exercise the s morning, stayed in bed longer. The wind was so strong I thought it was going to blow the roof off! It didn't, but did blow the weather station down in our school playground!! Lots of heavy showers too. A long day at work. Was going to go a walk round the block afterwards, but it was pouring with rain. Topped the car up with fuel & bought TV mag & my week for the local paper. Forgot to say the other day, has anyone noticed the price of corned beef? £3 for the cheapest tin! Won't be buying that again for a while.
Watched TV with DS1, then had a nap before tea. Sewed the pieces for a memory bear together & caught up with posts. I've done 7 days continuous learning Norwegian, remembering some of the phrases from when I learnt it 31 years ago.
Hope you're doing ok @beanielou, hope your PIP gets paid soon. Well done on the NSDs so far! X
Grateful for a colleague from 25 years ago telling my current colleague that I'm a bucket of sunshine 😃, my lunch when I finally got it (no one came to take over my pupil, so I could go to eat), time with DS & the memory bear being easy to assembleUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

ADD more of the things that make you happy. On Tuesday I put a music playlist on and had it in the background for nearly the whole of the day. Not all happy songs (DS3 made a point of complaining about Mad World by Gary Joules) but satisfying, soothing, had a bit of a singalong. It helped.

A lot of ideas there. A few are not for me - I was looking for any that hadn't occurred to me but some of these you just can't argue with.

Yesterday I wrote one of my 'catch up' letters. It was supposed to be a condensed update of one I tried to write before Christmas. 29 pages later (the recipient has cataracts so I double spaced it and wrote in printed letters). Just got to find an envelope, write the address and get it to the post office.
In the afternoon I took 7 (read) books back to the library and brought the bins back to the house when I got back. Long break to rest, eat and watch my serial and then went back down to put the leftover cans and bottles in the newly emptied bin, Slept early, woke early, writing this now in case I fall asleep and don't wake again until lunchtime. I've had my pills, a shower and something to eat.
I want to go to the library and see about mum's Council Tax (they want me to set up a direct debit for the second half of this year but there's a rebate due). Need to update them after the latest failure to complete. I intended taking my brother along in December and again on Tuesday but without a definite date they won't act (and I think I needed to wit for the solicitor's letter of confirmation when I sold the big house and moved back here). That may get done today or tomorrow - will see how my legs feel when I get to the back gate (if my body says No I'm not going. Still lots to do.
Grateful for my bed (the top end is getting clearer, my legs and feet are on the edge and i have no idea what's round the far side - well I have some idea because there are things I know are there somewhere), grapes and easy peelers, drinks (lots and lots to drink), a good series (concluded now), a very violent but fun film (I don't mind violence if the people getting hurt aren't very nice and I didn't want anything complicated), sleep, not coughing (found a comfortable position).9
