10/1 and still NSD 6, and tomorrow will also involve spending. Shopped at lunchtime with a list- spent less than £30 and it should keep us going for a while.
I am (very) slowly decluttering the toiletry surplus- we have SO many body lotions and hand creams- probably because I never remember to use them, so I have a body butter beside my bed and hand creams strategically placed around the house and in the car so they are obvious and I will try to use them more frequently. I have started another bag of DDs old stuff to pass on when it's full, a bag always there to fill seems to be the best way to get rid of it.
Tomorrow's plans are very weather dependent- would rather it was dry and I can spend time outdoors, but if it rains the kitchen painting may move a step forward....11 -
It's bin collection day tomorrow (today now) so I spent my time downstairs on that. Had bags and sacks to take down with me and have been out to each bin at least twice. The brown (bottles and cans - glass, plastic and metal) and green (garden waste) will be collected this week so worked on filling the space in our brown bin (DS3 forgot to put it out last time and the yard is full of cans in rubble sacks - I think Beloved is in a better frame of mind and has been gradually working on the accumulation of clutter in their room).
Walked to the end of the back with that (DS3's job but he hadn't woken up at that point and missing the collection again seemed like the worst kind of disaster at this point - I know it's only a minor thing really but the current collection is taking up a lot of room and the thought of another 3 weeks of it.... just urghhh). I can't do much or control much but this I can do.
Next the green bin which wasn't emptied last time (I put one of the ivy roots in at the last minute - over 2' long and 6 - 8 inches thick so they didn't take it and they omitted the collection over Christmas to give more time for other bins (all that extra wrapping paper and food scraps). Haven't been able to cut up the chunky roots and branches yet (several already have deep cuts where I've tried to take them down over the years) but worked on the long branches from the weed trees. I had them mostly stood up in a tall compost bin.
Sat on a garden chair using the tree saw and pruning saw to chop them into 12 - 18 inch lengths and filled the foot of space at the top of our bin. Over half of them are now done. Stopped several times as sawing is another time limited activity - using the 2 different saws helped and quite a few could be snapped when part sawn through. Took that to the end of the backs, relying heavily on a thicker branch used as a staff to help me walk.
Gathered a neighbour's brown bin on the way back. He keeps putting soft plastics (thin carrier bags and bread wrappers) in so the bin men don't take it. Emptied it out (only about a quarter full but lots of glass bottles), poured in lots of my cans (let the gathered rainwater out of each bag) then put the glass bottles on top and the stuff that shouldn't have been in there went in my black bin. So only one sack of cans in my yard now which is a great improvement.
So much that needs doing but I have done this and done it well. I can think of a couple of easy jobs that will 'help' , don't take much effort and will use some excess products. One is using shower screen spray on the UPVC doors - will have to go back and do them properly later but just spraying them and leaving the stuff to work on the stubborn stains should help (I don't have a shower screen) and if we have another mild day, sitting on a chair using a shovel on the 'rubble' in the backs. It's all the lumps of old black mortar that were left when all next doors' bricks were heaped up. i plan to use rubble sacks and put a few shovelfuls in each bag then move them (probably into next doors' yard) and pour several sacks into one when they're in position. The uneven surface makes it hard for me to walk around or use the dolly truck or oldest walker to move things.
Grateful to get in, scrub my nails and hands (using the last scrap of a bar of soap), eat hot food and relax.9 -
Morning turtles
hugs to everyone who needs them
yesterday was a bit of a struggle, I can’t tell if I’ve got a resurgence of the last cold or a new one. Lots of pressure in the head and coughing fits. Dosed up on paracetamol and accepted I wasn’t firing on all cylinders.
Instead of going to the gym I took a long walk at lunch to cheer myself up, and ended up in the Joaquín sorolla museum which was lovely but I lost my NSD. It was only €3 and well worth it. Decided I’m going to take myself on one “outing” like this per week in my lunch break. I get two hours for lunch so no excuse really.
picked up a Covid test after work and pleased it was negative.
On the plus side I’m doing well with meditation and writing in the morning, and have had no sweets or chocolate since Sunday.Grateful for not having Covid, for feeling a bit better this morningStudent loan £5655

I am quite excited about today.
DH will be out of the house and so I can continue removing stuff from the house without fear of disturbing him.
I think my contract ends on 21st not 28th! because I am not on the rota. I am ridiculously happy about that. The 3 fun people have left or are on holiday until after I leave anyway. So after today I will be in single figures 😜 for workdays left. Hooray 👏👏

Good start to the day, still have the cold lingering but feeling better. Got a TCB payout and calculated that if I'm strict I might have £80 left over this month so I put both aside for an extra debt payment, yay.
Then cycled to work and climbed the 4 floors rather than taking the lift. My legs are dead but it's a start.
Have a good day

Beanie, nsd 11 is impressive! Was that by choice? Or because you've been waiting for your PIP money?

Didn't post yesterday as I woke up at 5.30 for no good reason and had a very long day at work, so just wanted to chill when I got home.I lost an already declared NSD on Monday. My parents' dog had to be put down so I ordered them a card. It's the first time in 30 years they've been without a dog so I think they're feeling it quite keenly.Yesterday wasn't a NSD, my TENS machine started giving me electric shocks! Changed the pads and it still did it, so I ordered a new cable hoping that maybe the current one is damaged and that this will fix it. If it doesn't then the whole thing is broken, which will be very annoying as I only got it in August as my last one went missing on holiday. I use it every morning so didn't want to delay in buying the new cable. We also had a shopping delivery yesterday too.Today hasn't been a NSD either, took my car in for new brakes and pads. That's wiped out the car fund completely, but at least the MOT and service is done until 2023 so I can start saving up again. I jogged to and from the garage as well, haven't run for a really long time, was nice but my back is a bit sore.My HSBC transfer has finally gone through, just need to set up 2 direct debits to get the free money. My log on for a new savings account arrived and I promptly managed to block the account... never known such a faff trying to log onto online banking! Will have to call them tomorrow.Haven't slept well the last few days, I've been behind on work but as I worked from home today I caught up so hopefully will sleep better tonight.NSD's - 4 (not 5 as previously reported!)Healthy food days - 8Workouts this week - 39
