dunno if i mentioned earlier but the guy in york said they get between 1 and 2 used xboxes in each week and it's an averageish sized store in an average size city so hopefully most stores will be much the same, so if anyone's been out of luck before then try again after a couple weeks
I assumed they were just selling them at £20 so they could get rid of all their xbox stock, but if they are taking them in still I wonder how much they are paying for them?
I would like to get a pre 1.6 one (hopefully a 1.3) but like you I don't think I could be bothered with all the hassle really.0 -

I was going to buy one of my Xboxes off a local ebayer 2 weeks ago as a collect-in-person for £15. He mentioned he had only been offered £5 for trade-in but I don't know which shop. I didn't buy it in the end, he asked why I wanted it, when I told him about the media center I agreed to mod it for him of a fiver instead0 -
Game are still doing this offer by the way. I just picked one up this afternoon and when i opened the box at home it was in good condition with all the leads, 3 games and the dvd bit and remote!
Guess it's too much to ask that it has already been modded! You're my wife now!!0 -
Bridlington's game has loads left.
re: using it as a 20 quid media player - not quite - you'll need to buy some other stuff to install XBMC - the totaly will be closer to £40 once you've got an Action Replay, and a seccond hand copy of Splinter Cell...
Still WELL worth it though - I even fitted a disused 80 gig hard drive in mine, so I can install the games and not have to root for discs!0 -

all depends if you have friends with xbox's
best if you know someone with a ready modded xbox (chip or softmod)
as they can ftp the save to the xbox.
then all you need is a plain memory card plus game0 -

It should work automatically. I assume you've plugged in the IR receiverA shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.0 -
Another question...
I have XMBC and UNLEASHX dash working fine.
I now want to load linux's WINE to run windows application.
Do I need to load/install another distro version of linux - or can I run a distro version live from DVD?
Thanks for any pointers

What's all this about extra kit? Yes there are the memory card or special game tricks, but all I used was the 'hot swap' method, where you boot your PC and XBox at the same time, then connect the XBox's hard drive to the PC. Not for the faint hearted or novice by any means, and it took a few tries, but much cheaper and much less hassle than chasign round shops for golddust games or memory cards. The links for the method are somewhere in this thread, and if you can't be bothered looking, you definately won't be bothered with the method!
HTH!
