So when I switch on the xbox, the light goes red but the screen is just blank, nothing else happens. I can load an original game though.

Does anyone have any idea how I can try and fix it please

Yay, I managed to get it back using the splinter cell gamesave I must remember to switch it on every day - dunno why it keeps forgetting about the softmod.

It's probably not the switching on that's helping.

My guess is you've got an old type of softmod (e.g. SID) that goes wrong if the internal 'clock' is reset. This happens typically when it's unplugged for a length of time and it will look broken. Things like putting a game, CD, etc. 'sort of' fixes it.

If you want to avoid this, look on the internet for something called the 'XBOX - CASH v1.1 Softmod Helper'. It basically upgrades your softmod so that leaving it unplugged doesn't cause problems.
