Same here. Are they pretty standard or do you need to look at specific models etc, please? Are they 2.5" laptop drives? Would like 120GB+ if poss.

    Cheers

well there was a 120gb limit but this no longer applies
however bear in mind there is no real defrag utility for the xbox and the hard drives are not so well cooled
i tend to stick with 250gb or so as my max size

Don't you have to make sure your drive is compatible (lockable) or is this no longer an issue? http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=statistics

Oh dear! You've lost me already. A bit out of my comfort zone here methinks!

At the risk of sounding completely stupid, how do I find out which version my X Box is, please?

Sorry for confusing you but I don't understand this either...I had a spare 80GB drive that I found out wasn't lockable that's all...in the end I never bothered swapping the hard drive on mine as I stream from my PC...I think custardy will have to confirm the drive you are looking at is OK.

Just didn't want you shelling out only to find the drive wasn't suitable. :)

    Thanks Tharweb!

If anyone knows the answer to finding out which version X-Box I have, would be very grateful.

It won't be me doing the modding - it's a project for my son who owns the X-Box and is home from Uni atm!!

    thanks in advance:D
