YES :D and no (you need to be careful)...

the file changes once it has been softmodded (i fell for this once and it took a while to rectify)

the file - once the softmod is completed the file is changed slightly - i copied across the file to another xbox I was working on and it caused a bit of a booboo - it locked up and told me to contact customer services (as it had detected that i had tried to alter the settings - well the file had tried to without being able to because the software wasn't on the hard disk to allow it)

However if someone has a datel action replay or xploder lite then you should be able to copy a fresh file from the memory stick to the xbox memory card without any hassle :) - I hope that all makes sense as I'm just trying to warn you - so you don't fall down the same hole as me :)

I am making it sound like it is really difficult which it isn't - follow the instructions and you will have a great media centre for nothing - I'm just trying to highlight some of the potholes that a previous novice such as myself experienced :)

my main xboxes are hard modded.ive modded too many xbox's in my time lol.
prefer a chip over softmod but for what it costs a softmod is a great way of getting xbmc running

    this is one of mine

My mate originally thought that a softmod was far inferior to a hard mod - but it has all the same features of a hardmod xbox and youc an easily return it to it's original state and you dont even need to open the box. However you will need to if you want a bigger harddisk to store music, videos and some games on - It's nice to have all my games collection [I have all the original games] at the touch of a button.

Now that is seriously modding your XBOX :D If I could do only one thing, I would get a quieter fan...

    EDIT:
Custardy, anyway as you already have a modded xbox you could in theory FTP the game save file to the correct location so it shows up in the dashboard, save it to the memory card and then you can go and softmod you other one :)

yeah with a chipped box you can ftp the save over easily and then transfer it to the memory card.
ive copied them to memory cards for loads of people as its the trickliest bit for most really.
i have 1 softmodded box but thats just laziness really :o

i used to have a nice little earner on ebay with led mods on the xbox's

you can use ANY memory card/usb flash disk in the xbox by using a controller port to USB adapter etc

    HOWEVER
on the pc you need special software to format and write to FATX partitions (FATX is the system xbox uses for its media, hard disks etc) - I don't know of any software that will work free of charge. datels own software will only work with it's own memory stick as it has a bit of software that only allows it to identify itself with the software. but this does mean that the xploder lite should work
PLUS the next thing is, if you manage to copy a file to the memory stick - and the memory stick isnt in the FATX format the XBOX will automatically format it before asking you (as soon as you plug it in) and you will lose all your information instantly.

Hope that makes some sort of sense

You can ONLY use a device compatible with the Xbox there is a limited list of USB devices here. The Xbox does the FATX formatting, for ease of use Xplorer 360 for the file transferring which means you can avoid the Action Replay software and possible incompatibilities with your USB device altogether.

This does mean the exploit saves zipped up for AR need to be extracted, more detail in this topic.

oh and you also want a specific xbox version too, < 1.6, although 1.6 may still be modded somehow... so you want an xbox made before 2003 week 11 (see http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xbox_Versions_HOWTO ).

Not a problem to do 1.6 versions with Kryzies NDURE softmod.

from my limited reading up on xbox modding over the past 24hrs, i think you need to have an already modded xbox to use the crossover cables to copy software over, which youprobably wanna do to mod it which then defeats the point of doing so in the first place :p i think it was something like needing a mod chip with different bios to enable ftp transfer. but... a £6 off ebay xbox > usb cable and a usb flash drive formatted with fatx sounds simple enough.
