im no expert on stuff on softmods.
TBH i just upload the softmodded xbox's eeprom and flash it to a chipped xbox
then do all the work on the hard drive and lock it
then put it back in the softmodded xbox
then reflash my chipped xbox with its original eeprom

Two more questions:

1. when FTP between PC and Xbox, does the xbox have to be connected to TV when doing this? I ask this question because when I change the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 on the xbox, it keeps on resetting to 0.0.0.0 when I restart the xbox. This means that Once I change the subnet mask, I cannot restart the xbox so I have to connect it to my pc when the xbox connected to the TV. Normally this would not be an issue, but it is for me as my tv is upstairs and my pc downstairs!!!

2. When the xbox is connected to the PC only, if there isn't any activity going on the Xbox turns itself off after about 5 minutes, is that normal?

no need for the tv as you just view the ftp window

in xbmc you can also set up a webserver to control some xbmc features from the pc

sounds like you have a power down timer set for inactivity.check your settings

Just to let people know these are still available in some Game stores - got one in Salisbury today and they also had preowned XBox games reduced to £2-£3 (in a basket mixed up with gamecube and ps2 games).

If you are attempting this upgrade after installing the Ndure softmod you will need to proceed differently as Krayzie's Ndure is a newer version of the softmod that creates a virtual drive C: by doing this any updates to the dash are on the Virtual Drive C: not the real one, this protects your Softmod from getting !!!!!!ed up but when you back-up drive C: your getting the Virtual C's contents not the actual drive C: which means this procedure will not work.

The canadian site is making it more complex than it actually is. It is just a matter of running the exploit again. Ndure does not make it any more complex. When you start up the xbox with the upgraded HDD you will get the default xbox dashboard. Just pop in your splinter cell (or the other games that allow softmod exploit) and run it again. Not a very hard thing to do.

Managed to pick up 2 pre-owned for £19.98 each from Game in Maidstone. Assistant said they were £30 each but scanned in at £19.98.

Copy the contents of your xbox c drive into the c folder and likewise for the xbox e drive and the eeprom.bin file into the eeprom folder. Then run your makeiso-win batch file.

The whole thing is setup so the image is made using the folders etc in the linux directory so it does not matter where you have these on your pc.

Just to say that this deal is still available at Game in York city centre. I picked one up today for £19.98, and it works beautifully (wasn't for me, but rather my nephew, honest!).
They are not on display in the shop, but rather you have to ask the staff and they will get one from the back room.

Well after wasting an evening it seems that although my camera will work as subsitute Xbox memory card it will not initialise under windows with the edited Action Replay device driver. Xbox Linux or other FATX supporting Linux must be used to transfer the files :think:
